There are several striking features about Phirr. Before going into the review, let me list them:
Super fast pace: It is difficult to take your eyes off the screen; especially during the first half.
No gory scenes: Although a sort of murder mystery, it does not have any blood, gore or horror faces that are a trademark features of this genre
Solid storyline (that is, if you believe in karma and destiny)
Ok, so here is the plot: A doctor's wife goes missing without a trace and he comes across a psychic who can see future. Together, they set out to find the missing wife but they are actually unknowingly finding out the past.
I went into the cinema hall with no expectations. But within first 15 minutes, I knew that this film is going to be good; and I wasn't disappointed. The story moves ahead with bullet speed, it is shot in Manchester, so all the roman/english architecture buildings add to the suspense drama. The editor has done an excellent job - a 2 hour thriller; even the below average songs somehow keep the script moving ahead.
The cast performances are good. Nothing over the top.
The only thing that is badly missing in this movie is Mahesh Bhatt. Had he been supervising this, I am sure we would have seen a much better marketed movie with good music that could have become one of the biggest hits of the year so far. Yes, the script is that good! But then, may be we would also have had gory scenes and too much kissing around ;-)
This is definitely worth a watch! Do not miss it.
