Starting with a job as a Math teacher after my graduation, realized I need to refurbish my wardrobe. I must ring out the old jeans, T-shirts, shorts and bring in more formals; descent shirts and trousers. But which brand should I buy? I didn’t know about MouthShut then (almost a year back) or I would have consulted you all.
I visited a fashion mall in Andheri without any specific brand in mind. I thought I would explore and decide on the spot. I wanted something that will be good in quality, on my body and on my pocket. And what? I landed up buying Peter England Shirts!
Quality and price: Needless to say that as you move up the price range, quality moves up as well. On the lower side (Approx. Rs 300) is their so called Freedom Shirts and must be avoided. Though not yet tried but they look pathetic even when new!
I am sure you will get quality shirts in the price range of Rs 500/ to Rs 800/. Throughout india the price is the same Washing is easy. Need not be separate or in warm water. 10 minutes in washing machine and it’s damn new again! It does not leave colour on washing.
The range: Peter England has a good range of shirts. But I don’t know why the outlets are always short of them. Last month I specified my choice but he didn’t had it. But when I became adamant he got it from the main dealer. The shirts are in single colour as well as in checks and stripes. The colour ranges from bright to lighter shades of green, blue, red and a mix of the primary colours. But I prefer their checks and plain shirts.
Material and style: Cotton shirts all the way! I don’t know if they have cotton – polyester mixed as well. In Bombay or for that reason any humid place, cotton’s the best. The style is relaxed, 6 buttons in front, long sleeves, single pocket and interlock stitching. Just check the collar, few shirts and especially the plain shirts have long collars without the button. But their formal checks are average collar with buttons.
They give you six months guarantee against material, stitching and colour but I never had to exchange. Wrinkle free is another plus point. They have good number of outlets or showrooms throughout Bombay. They often come out with attractive schemes, like getting the third shirt at 50% price. I think this scheme is still there…just check it out, if you plan to buy soon.
I think it’s a good deal in the price range of Rs 500 – Rs 800 and for daily office goers. Do not shell out more on this. If you plan to spend more than Rs 800 than Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Arrow are better. Expect reviews on them soon! In the mean time let me know about your brand!
