“To win a Grand Slam Tournament, you need to have ur heart, ur mind and ur body totally devoted to the game. If any of these factors lack, it is very difficult to win a Grand Slam.” This is what the famous Tennis Player of all times Pete Sampras has to say on winning 13Grand Slam Tournaments.
And boy, u bet he does have all this in him. U should watch him playing tennis on the court. He is totally focused, thinking every time to overcome his opponent’s strengths. He is physically very fit and is so fast on the court; especially his running forehand topspins are a delight to watch. And what about his soul? Everybody would agree that no man could remain on top of the World Rankings for so many years if he does not have a soul dedicated to the game.
Sampras left high school in 1998 to become a professional Tennis player. In 1990, he became the youngest Men’s player ever to win at the US Open. Sampras has modeled his style of play to Rod Laver, the famous Australian player of the yester years. He has an extremely fast serve and in 1993 he became the first professional player to record more than 1,000 aces in a single year. Sampras also has some very powerful groundstrokes and greatly proficient volleys. Also, he is one of the players I love watching when he hits those overhead smashes.
Pete Sampras has won 13 Grand Slam Tournaments and has equaled the record previously held by Roy Emerson. These 13 Grand Slam Tournaments include 6 Wimbledon Titles, which is a record in itself. But one title has been eluding Sampras throughout his career and that is the French Open.
Although, a veteran in the game, Sampras is trying hard to live up to the reputation that he has built and is trying hard to win the French Open, the title he so badly wants.
Here’s wishing him all the best.
