Where are the days of cute littleTeletubbies and Pingu ?My little nephew insists on watching this curiously named cartoon on NICK channel and every time he has a temper tantrum, beads of sweat appear on our collective foreheads at the thought of seeing yet another episode of the famed PERMAN, yet again!
(Can’t use the word againenough number of times to drive home the point that each of us poor souls have watched EACH episode EVERY time it comes on TV, it comes 3 times a day, 7 days a week)
Well it’s the adventures of a little boy superhero and his gang of school friends- superheroes (and a superhero DOG too) with unpronounceable names! He and his gang save the world all the time and on the way give little nuggets of wisdom about responsibility, honesty, hard work, so on and so forth. Its understandable why children love it so much.
Apparently it’s a rage with all kids below the age of 4 and you can clearly see the pain on their parents faces. And the very mention of NINJA HATTORI sends them into spasms. My sister, after watching the umpteenth episode one day paid attention to the lyrics (of the end song) and the chain reaction has continued. It goes something like….
Ude yeh asman main ude, chidiya nahi lagti
Ude yeh jitna bhi tez ude, traffic police ise nahi pakadti
Superman se SU hata do to PERMAN ban gaya…..
Move over Prasoon Joshi…PERMAN aagaya! Well watch it with your kids, if you can. And for the uninitiated DO check out the END song on Youtube, I can promise you Friday will not seem so long.
