I am using Pepsodent for the past 6 years and have found it to be good, but I felt cheated when I bought a Pepsodent recently. Was this a marketing gimmick or is it that I have made a mistake or what do u really feel?
I have bought a Pepsodent tooth paste which says FREE Lux worth Rs.6/- .
Barcode: 8- 901090-222092, Pkd 01/08. The MRP of this is Rs.48/-.
I went to a shopping mall(Big Bazaar) and found that they have Pepsodent 175 g for a MRP of Rs.46/-(without reduction).
On
calculating I found that by buying the one with free soap, I have actually
paid much more than I would have paid if I had bought a 150 g and the
Rs.6/- Lux soap
Cost of 175 g= Rs.46
Cost of 1g = 46/175= 0.263
Cost of 150 g at the rate of 0.263 per g= 0.263* 150= Rs. 39.45
What I have paid= Rs.48
Difference= 48 - 39.5= Rs. 8.50
If I had bought 150 g tooth paste and the soap separate
Cost of 150 g Pepsodent+ Cost of Rs.6 Lux soap= 40+ 6= Rs. 46
Conclusion: I paid Rs.2 more because I bought the Pepsodent that had a 45 g Lux free with it.
