Originality:

I’d say Parineeta is the best album for 2005. The album is dominated by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. A piano is used for nearly every song and I have to say, these songs beat all the other piano songs we’ve had: Pehla Nasha, Hum Tum, Jaan Meri Jaa Rahi Sanam, Terey Liye, Ek Din Aap…etc. So here’s Parineeta’s album

PIYU BOLE -Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal

This is undoubtedly the best song in the album. Shreya and Sonuji sound cuter than ever. Oh yeah, the intro’s sung by Saif Ali Khan and he sounds great. Most actors are rather horrible at singing. I never get tired of hearing this song; it sounds sweeter every time I listen to it. Everything about this song is great, the piano notes, the singers, the song itself is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. It’s also got the best and most convincing ‘aahhaahhh’ chorus I have ever heard.

piyu bole piya bole, kya yeh bole jaanu naa, jiya dole haule haule, kyun yeh dole jaanu naa

DHINAK DHINAK

What can I say about this song? It’s terrible, five minutes of torture!

RAATH HAMARI - Swanand and Chitra

The intro is sung by Swanand, followed by a few notes on the piano and Chitra’s angelic voice. The song has a relaxing, soothing, calming effect on your mind. Throughout the song you can hear the piano notes and something that sounds like a violin. I just can’t seem to find words to describe the song; it’s simply beautiful and that is not enough.

raath hamari to, chaand ki saheli hai, kitne dhino ke baath, ayi voh akeli hai, samjha ki baate bhi, koi to chaande aaj, andhere se jhibar ke, karne hai baate aaj.

KASTO MAZA - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal

The last train song I remember was Chal Chaiya (Dil Se). The song with the usual sounds you get from a train, then the sound of children singing, kasto maza hai lelaima…, followed by Sonu’s yeh havaein, gungunaye pooch tu hai kahaan…. I fell in love with this song the instant I heard it. Sonu and Shreya both sound absolutely sweet and beautiful. You can hear the chugging of the train in the background throughout the song. The piano also plays a huge part in this song. It sounds like the tinkle of light raindrops on a pool of water.

KAISI PAHELI ZINDAGANI -Sunidhi Chauhan

This song is like a Hindi Jazz song. Sunidhi once again displays her versatility by singing this song and changing her voice to better suit the song. I must say, the first time I heard this song, I ignored it completely. Of course that was before, I knew this song was from Parineeta. Sunidhi sounds both sweet and innocent at the same time.

nahi nahi nahi yeh baate yeh baate hai purani, kaisi paheli hai yeh kaisi paheli zindagani, dhama har oh ko kisne, hai yeh sa behasa pani, kaisi paheli hai yeh kaisi paheli zindagani

SOONA MANN - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal

Sonu sounds the best in this song. His voice is brimming with emotions and feelings. Just like Raath Hamari, this song is another soothing, calming one. I love to listen to this song when someone gets me angry. It has the most wonderful effect on me and I forget that I was ever angry. The piano is used once again in this song; it is the piano mainly that produces the calming effect. It's the most heart-breaking song in the movie.

Sonuji: soona, soona mann ka angan, dhoondhe payal ki woh cham cham, sooni, sooni mann ki sargham dhoondhe geet terey hum dum…

Shreya: phul phul bhavara dhonde mann me goonj teret yaad, bhag mein papiha bole pihu pihu piyu kaha

HUI MEIN PARINEETA - Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal

This is the slower and more passionate version of Piyu Bole. I’d say this song belongs to Sonuji. He sounds really sweet; his voice is once again overflowing with emotions and feelings. It’s a really sad, heart-rending song! In the background you can hear something like the chanting of mantras.

hoth terey, main ke pyale, kajrare, naina terey, mathe par, sinduri subha zulfon mein, rehna base

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to another album this much. It’s been nearly a month and I haven’t got tired of hearing these songs as yet and I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of them, not for a long while to come! Absolutely beautiful album, wonderfully put together songs except for Dhinak Dhinak!
