Sinful Family(Papi Parivaar).
“Papi Parivaar” is 192th novel of Sir Surender Mohan Pathak narrating the 101st adventure of Sunil Kumar Chakravarty, the crime-investigation reporter of fictional national daily “Blast.” It was found in many adventures of “Sunil” that as a news-hound or investigative journalist, he is habitual to interfere in many cases. Due to this, he is always caught red handed by police-inspector “Prabhudayal” and get bitter words and behavior of him.
Sunil always challenges to make law & order and win in last. Sunil always found 2 steps forward from police during the investigations of case. It was known to SMPians(SMP Fans) that while Sunil interfere in a normal case like pick-pocketing, theft etc., it will become sensational news later. If there is no interference of murder or blackmailing in case, then there will be something must happen which shocked the Rajnagar City, its media and police system.
In the adventures of “Sunil Series” novels, it can be considered easily that “Sunil” will solve the mystery and find out the real culprit. While police system was shown in these novels with lax, sloppy, imprudent etc. The most important thing of the “Sunil Series” is “How done it?” Sunil solves the mystery layer by layer using the facts and unlocks the core of novel which is very beautiful and amazing.
“Papi Parivaar” is the one such novel; in which Sunil interfere only as News-Hound to get some sensational news for Blast. The story of this novel is related to a “Royal Family” of Late Rana Tejpratap Singh for his property “Gagan-Mahal.” There was the news in the city that Roopkunwar(youngest daughter of Late Rana Tejpratap Singh and Estate holder of Gagan-Mahal according to the will of late Rana Tejpratap Singh) want to sell “Gagan-Mahal”. Sunil want to confirm the news and reason behind of this decision. While Sunil reached the “Gagan-Mahal”, he found himself in front of Inspector Prabhudayal.
Prabhudayal and family members were standing in front of a door and trying to break it. When the door was broken, uproar and screaming is started. A man found dead lying on chair and his chin is engaged with the barrel of Shotgun. The face of the person is not recognizable due to the shot of Shotgun. But Roopkunwar recognized him as his elder brother Chandrapratap Singh. Inspector Prabhudayal explained to Sunil that he came to arrest Chandrapratap Singh in a scam.
Gaganpratap Singh, Chandrapratap Singh and Suryapratap Singh are elder brother of Roopkunwar. Bhanupratap Singh is her younger brother. Gaganpratap Singh and Chandrapratap Singh were very well settled in city, while Suryapratap Singh is traveler and wanderer. Bhanupratap Singh was living with Roopkunwar as he has some mentally problem. All brothers were come together because Gaganpratap Singh was going for foreign trip on the day of incident. Manjari, childhood friends of Gaganpratap Singh was also invited for the meet. According Roopkunwar, Gaganpratap left the Gagan-Mahal in morning to get the flight.
At the time of incident, Gaganpratap left the Gagan-Mahal for his foreign trip. Suryapratap Singh and Roopkunwar are in house. Bhanupratap Singh is disappeared. Friends it’s a closed-room murder-mystery, in which murder happened in a closed room that seems like a suicide. Police declared this case, a suicide case because a suicide note was also found there. But the interference of Sunil in this case, gave a typical Suniliyan twist which will amaze you in last pages. But I can’t explain you those things, due to spoil alerts issues.
This novel is travel around Gagan-Mahal family, Inspector Prabhudayal, Sunil and Ramakant with the base of suicide. Sunil carried forward the story through his investigative activities with the help of his friend Ramakant, considering the thought that it is not a suicidal case, murder case.
There were many incident happened after crime which will force you to stay be alive with story. Pathak sir introduced Sunil in early pages of Novel, but main interference came after the death of Chandrapratap. In the meantime Pathak sir stated the history of Gagan-Mahal.
In this novel, Pathak Sahab portrayed the family relationships in modern backdrop. Pathak Sahab written this story on brother-sister relationship by using the universal fact – Brother is killing own bloods(Bhai Bhai ka Gala kaatta hai). Elder brothers of Roopkunwar emotionally forced her to sell the Gagan-Mahal. While Pathak Sahab presented the sea of innocent love Roopkunwar and Bhanupratap.
“Papi Parivaar” is a great murder mystery where you can found many points and stops which will amaze you. You can find many turns which will force you to think. In a time you will suspect someone, but after some pages you will release him from suspicion. The role of police in this novel is really useless and worthless job. When police think, it is a suicidal case then the closed it. But Sunil investigated the case and solves out the mystery.
This novel was released in 1994 and after 19 years of its first publication, the interest, thrill, mystery and adventures of this novel not gone down. The most important quality of novels of Sir Surendra Mohan Pathak is that it does not affect by the time.
It’s a must read novel again and again….
