When you think of Panchgani or Mahabaleshwar, the only thing that flashes the mind is juicy, red, sweet and scrumptous Strawberries. No wonder it is called "Land of Strawberries". Finally we managed to plan the trip to Panchgani and Mahabaleshwar. Went during the 26th Jan long wkend. Given the fact that it was a long wkend all the resorts and hotels which are well known were totally booked. Luckily we chanced upon this hotel, "Hotel Residency" in Panchagani.
Hotel Residency has been opened very recently, I guess not more than 6months or maximum a year. Yes there are some glitches here and there, however, given the fact that it is new, we need to give it sometime to settle. Hospitality industry is very demanding and unfortunately we expect the earth, the moon, the stars from the Day1. My suggestion to people who will opt for this hotel, is to be little understanding.
Coming to the rooms. We were 2 couples and were given the Maharaja Suite. The rooms were pretty good with 1 living room which has a sofa-cum-bed and television and a bedroom with a double bed and television and all the other basic amenities like hot&cold water, bath-tub, side table, ward-robe, mini refrigerator to keep your food items or cold drinks etc, a safe and the likes. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious.
Talking about the hotel and its facilities. The hotel is fairly new and will take sometime to settle. The staff is courteous and helpful. The hotel on hill-top with breath taking view of the mountains. The location of the hotel is serene with picturesque surrounding all the way. One good thing about the hotel is that it is Pet Friendly. The other couple with us had 2 dogs and the hotel staff were courteous to accomodate them.
The hotel is little on a costlier side, I guess that needs to be worked upon. I also felt that the hotel is short staffed and hence some people would have found the service not upto the mark. However, we were pretty happy with the service, however, would suggest the owner and the manager of the hotel to be recruite more people. And the last point I would like to suggest is to be more specific in conveying their MAP plan(Breakfast and Dinner Included) package, especially the dinner. The dinner is actually a Sit-Down Preset Buffet Meal i.e. they have a set menu which they serve on your table or your room.
In the end I would only like to say, it is a nice and comfortable hotel to stay in if you are not into the fluff, this is the place.
