I like to thank MouthShut and your reviews which helped a lot for knowing the pros and cons of the products. I was doing a research for buying a good AC. After a month of research in the internet and visiting many dealers, I zeroed for PANASONIC A/C MODEL: CU-YC18PKY RATING: 3-STAR. 1.5 TR
I live in Chennai, where extreme heat, humid and low voltage are the things you cannot avoid .So I was searching for an trouble free AC which can work happily in these severe extreme conditions. I was advised to stay away from Hitachi/Lyods/O'general due to their poor after sales service. My hot list of AC's were LG/SAMSUNG/SHARP.
But when I searched in face book about comments of sharp AC's, I was shocked to see the people crying and cursing SHARP because of the frequent breakdown of sharp AC's and non existent of the service team. Then the LG and Samsung AC's are having problems in their condenser coil, as it is made up of aluminium, it cannot be repaired in case of leakage, so the whole unit must be replaced in a period of about 1 to 2 years which costs around 5K. So I was searching for a AC with a three-star rating, good performance, copper tube condenser, good after sales service and with in a budget of 35K. The answer I found was Panasonic AC MODEL: CU-YC18PKY RATING: 3-STAR, 1.5 TR with a blue fin condenser. Total cost was 35k (AC+DOUBLE BOOSTER+INSTALLATION).
Now I have used it for a month in my flat (bedroom) which is the top floor of the apartment. The performance is good so far. I mean the cooling of the room is not so high and not so poor. it is giving the correct optimum comfort which is required. The only thing I don't like is the remote, which does not have a back lit, so in the night time for adjusting the settings is a big problem. I think this remote is designed by some brainless noob.
I have seen in some reviews that people are saying that it does not have led display to show the set temperature in the indoor unit. I think they have added it in the latest units, as my indoor unit has a led display to show the set temperature. The indoor unit runs silently without any disturbing sound.
