Its not that Panasonic ACs are bad per se. LG split and window ACs are better anyday though, and I am speaking from experiences of having both at my home for many years.
3 years back, we bought two Panasonic window ACs from a Panasonic retail outlet in South Kolkata(beside Dhakuria bridge). I wont go to those details in how much delay they did for installation, how misguided I was from their store-keeper( I was told they could provide Inverter models, I booked by paying money, and then they called up and said Inverter ACs have been shipped, but they don't know how much time it will take for the shipment to arrive . So I said, then you can't keep commitment, return my money, they said not possible, so I bought two 5 star rated 1.5 ton ACs.)
Now the ACs itself are NOT that bad, except one has an non-backlit remote, hence a problem in the dark, and the other ones remote has a mind of its own, and the AC gets switched off, when some other buttons are pressed. ACs are more or less decent with good cooling even in sweltering Kolkata summers, but from 16 to 21 you will feel nice with temperature climbing, but the moment you change to 22, you will start getting uncomfortable and hot at 24! In our LG ACs, we shifted to Night mode from 16, and went to sleep. In Panasonic AC, alas, that cant be done. It has to be at constant 20 with Econavi on, to get cool air.
The installations were not entirely problem free, with outlet pipe choking due to malpositioning. But lets forget those, as I only had to ring Panasonic 5-6 times to get installation sorted properly, after the ACs were installed!
The after sales service and customer care based in Gurgaon are utterly stupid, callous and sheer irresponsible. When all other electronic gadget companies ring you back in 2-3 days to know whether your work was attended to or if everything is fine, these guys do not bother at all to ask back. Although their salary is paid with our money, their food at home is brought with money taken as service charge, they dont have a shame! Whenever someone is given a job at Panasonic electronics, they are asked that, " do you have anything as remotely close as shame", then if the answer is yes, then they are shown the door. If someone answers, that No I do not know what is shame, then they are promptly given job at Panasonic. Pathetic customer care with simply non-existent after sales service, I dont know how this company isn't banned or the employees thrown out and made to beg on the street. They should be.
Once you ring Gurgaon, somebody will be sent perhaps, who will even before coming to your house to check your AC, will call you up, and say that perhaps the'Gas' in the machine is low, and hence it is not cooling well. The only thing they are selling is' gas', they know that it is less in your machine, even before they have physically examined your machine! If somebody had come earlier either for installation, or AC maintenance, they will do something that will help the'gas', that is AC Cooling gas to escape, an thus they will call you up and say the next time that'gas' is low, hence AC needs maintenance. Just imagine the outstanding business sense they have! I sincerely hope that all customer care executives and after sales personnel from Panasonic ACs, should loose their job, get trampled on the road or atleast they have to sell their own kidneys to take money home, to meet their ends.
Avoid Panasonic AC like the plague. Buy anything but Panasonic.
