Goa Location:

Goa is situated along the western Indian coastline, approximately 105km long and 65 km wide. This Indian state of Goa, with a total area of 3701 sq km, shares its border with states like Maharashtra and Karnataka.

GOA CLIMATE

This Indian state of Goa enjoys warm climate through out the year. The temperature varies from 28o c to 29o c during July and August and touches a maximum of 33oc during May. Though Goa is warm through out, this Konkan land does not experience that unbearable heat found in the plains of India. It is this pleasant climate of Goa that attracts tourists from across the world through out the year.

PEOPLE OF GOA

The people of Goa, also known as the Goans, have had a heavy influence of the Portuguese for over four centuries. After the Portuguese invaded this small Konkan land of Goa, they tried out every means to do away with the prevailing Hindu and Muslim culture. Despite this fact, the Goans have still managed to keep their original culture intact. The Goans are mainly fun loving and friendly people. Music is a way of life. Their local songs and dances can be very chirpy and vibrant. If you get to witness the performance of the fishing community, then you just won't be able to resist but dance along with them.

GOA CULTURET

The people of Goa love to sing and dance. Songs and dance are part of every Goan's life.

DANCE OF GOA

One of the famous dances in Goa is called mando. It is basically a dance signifying love. The men and the women, dressed in western outfits, stand in two rows facing each other. The women hold fans while the men hold handkerchiefs and they dance to the love song which is sung in Konkani, the local language of Goa, and possess touches of Portuguese melody and rhythms of India. This is a very lively dance and was originally performed during marriages. The song talks about love between the newly wed couple.

Goa Attraction:

As you tour Goa, you will discover that there is so much to see and to do while in Goa and one is confused as to which one to go for in the first instance. Well, it would be a good idea to go slow on all the attractions so as to savor the memories of each and every item you see.

Goa Beach:

Who are those ageless beauties in Goa who can still entice a young lover? The beaches in Goa, of course! Though a thousand years old, beaches in Goa possess an enchanting charm which will continue to enchant tourists for years to come. When you are exploring Goan beaches, you will feel as if you are reading poetry…the exploration can be simply beautiful.

GOA PALOLEM BEACH:

Goa Palolem beach, situated 2km west of Chaudi, is an ideal beach where a tourist can relax undisturbed and if he is interested, then he can venture into the sea to spot some dolphins. Tourists come to Paloelm beach in Goa especially for spotting dolphins. But it is always better to take the help of local people to spot the dolphins.

The white sand beach of Goa Palolem beach in an arc is picture perfect. The village located nearby has several cafes and souvenir stalls catering to day-trippers and vacationers who arrive in groups for the sightseeing tours of the beaches. Despite the commercialisation, Palolem remains a traditional village.

REACHING GOA PALOLEM BEACH:

Goa Palolem beach is just 3 km away from Canacona Railway Junction, now on the Konkan Railway. Tourists can take taxis and auto-rickshaws to reach Palolem beach from Margao, 40 km away. There are regular buses from Margao to Palolem that would drop tourists at Canacona village. Panaji, the capital of Goa, is more than 70 km away.

ACOMMODATION AT GOA PALOLEM BEACH :

Tourists visiting the Palolem beach in this Indian state of Goa have the option of choosing beautiful beach huts and family rooms situated along the shores. Weekends can tend to be a bit overcrowded with picnickers, beachcombers and tourists thronging the Goa Palolem beach to have a nice time.

GOA WATER SPORTS ACTIVITIES:

Once you land up in a beach in Goa, then you are faced with a volley of questions: Which water sport would be the easiest and most fun? Which would be suitable for the middle-aged? Which might be best for the young, the athletic and the enthusiastic? And finally, the big question! Which would fit our budget? The only sport that would do justice to our purse and give you unlimited fun while in India's goa is windsurfing. Windsurfing in Goa is fairly simple because you get to hire a board by the hour at any of the major hotels. The Zuari estuary at Dona Paula is an excellent spot for windsurfing because of its calm waters being the kindest Goa has to offer. Special instructors are employed on the beach who will guide you through the surfing. The instructor fine-tunes the board and rig and gives a couple of simple lessons on the beach. Though it looks very easy, standing feet apart, the board resting steadily on the firm sand while we hold the sail up in the gentle morning breeze, the actual fun begins while raising the sail when you are waist deep in the sea. So many forces to balance out one against the other: the push of the wind on the sail, the rock n roll of the board on the waves, the off-putting force of our own nervousness. The first hour or two of windsurfing is spent tumbling about the ocean like a circus clown. Anyway, the sea is soft, wet and warm. But don't forget to leave your ego on the beach! Climbing back on board every few minutes and heaving the sail up yet again, the beginner finds out where the leg and back muscles are! The other sports are-

GOA DINGHY SAILING

GOA SCUBA DIVING

GOA SPEED BOATS

GOA PARASAILING
