Once Pakeezah was coming on TV and my grandmother(alive then) was watching the movie. I came back from college and started watching the movie. My mother came from work and started viewing it with us, and you know what after the end of the movie all three of us felt that we have utilised our time very fruitfully in watching a classic. Three generations were sitting there and enjoying this movie and its mind blowing music.
The first song is on a very old Meena Kumari and its a folk song. Its a lovely folk number ''Nazir ki mare, mori mori kuiya...'' , The second is the very famous, this time on a young Meena Kumari doing a dance, ''Inhi logon ne...'' ....It is a traditional classical number with beautiful classical steps. The choreographers then did not believe in fast pelvic movements..Thank God!!!. The Third Number is the haunting ''Chalte Chalte...'', story of a girl waiting to proclaim her love to her lover whom she has not seen, but only knows that he had left a note in her feet in a train.
The fourth is ''Thade Rahiyo...'' , its a typical thumri, and you would surely tap your feet to this one. The fifth is ''Mausam hai aashiqana...'' , the girl calling out to her lover to share the lovely climate. The sixth is ''Chalo Dildar Chalo, Chand ke Paar Chalo..'', this song is lovely picturised in the night on a Shikara. And the last number is ''Aaj hum aapni duaan ka katal dekhenge...''
The songs with their music , lyrics, picturisation everything are the most lovely of that era. This album is a classic and a person who is interested in old music, its a must have for him/her.
