Please note: this review is about the Lodging at OTS road, near Corporation Circle, near Badami House.
During our last Christmas holidays, after traveling to Ooty and Mysore, we arrived in Bangalore at about 8 PM, without any prior reservation. I had no idea, where I would find one and based on a friend's suggestion headed to Majestic.
Just on the way, near Corporation circle, I noticed this tall building - Pai Vihar Boarding & Lodging and decided to check on them.
My criteria was a simple family room which would accommodate 4 adults and a kid without much hassles(and policies), a car park and reasonable rate. And I found a perfect deal with this hotel. They had on offer a 3-bed room for 2100/- per night and extra bed at 400, another 400 odd for taxes which was totalling to some 2900/-. I bargained and the final settlement was done at 2500/- per night, which I feel was a very fair deal, considering we stayed there on 30, 31st and 1st. (I was expecting the hotels to increase their prices for the new year night).
Location: Very well placed. Right by the road side, opposite City Corporation office, near Badami House (which houses the Karnataka Tourism office). Majestic, M.G. Road and the famous Chikpet local market are very near by the hotel.
If you are a tourist and planning to take the Govt run city tours, the booking can be done at the Badami house, which is next to the hotel. (a real advantage).
There is a huge area next to the hotel, which is used for Parking and which is risk-free. We parked our car here for 3 days and never took it out.
Rooms/Ambiance: The room I stayed was excellent and clean. Had all the basics: chairs, table, dressing table, cupboard, well organised 3 beds, 2 fans, TV with working cable/remote. Complimentary soaps/shampoo sachet, towels provided. Room was cleaned every day. Bathroom was neat and tidy. Hot water started at 7 and no issues with it (mentioning all this, because my stay at previous locations in Ooty and Mysore had problems with these basic aspects). Though, these are basics, some lodgings don't even provide them and take the customers for granted.
They also provided room service.
I have no cons to really pen-down here about the hotel. The guy on the reception - Pratap was a cheerful personality and helpful.
Restaurant: The hotel houses a Veg restaurant of their own, which served real delicious food. We had all our 3 dinners at this place. Rates are quite affordable too. The bill for the food of 4+1 child was within 600 every time. They also have a'self-service' restaurant where one can have snacks, breakfast and tea/coffee. (This was an expensive affair, though).
Overall, this is a real value for money hotel and I would highly recommend anybody visiting Bangalore to try this out.
