My review on "Paatal Lok"
It was just beautiful that how one series showed the picture of our country in current times be it about politics, our system, issues related to the minority community, child sexual assault, LGBT community, fake news, murders, accidents, etc and we being the part of it can't help many a time but just live with it.
Hathi Ram Chaudhary, a cop from a typical middle-class family trying to be good at his work, to get recognized so he can finally get a promotion and feel a bit worthy. Trying not to be like his father but somehow ended up being like him. After finding the whole truth about the case, how he realized that there is nothing like a big man, everybody is a Hero of their own life but some people just have misconceptions of being too important and we also fall for it.
Dolly Mehra, this character showed us how pets can be humans best friends and also how a dog helped her overcome her anxiety. This character also showed how the good deeds of your family members can sometimes save you.
Ansari and Kabir, belonging to the same community and their struggles, how Ansari every time tried that he better be known for his achievements and abilities but the world every time made him realize that he was from the minorities. Kabir on the other hand who's father's line just hit me hard "Kya sahaab, jisse maine musalman tak nahi ban ne diya aapne use jihaadi bana diya! portrayed the harsh reality.
The past of all the 4 accused showed how there is always some reason behind how people behave and who they become.
The perfect chemistry between Hathi Ram Chaudhary and Renu Chaudhary where Renu manages to build the balance between love and discipline required in a child's life. The moment Hathi Ram slapped Renu, my inner voice shouted "Noooo!" but then Renu slapping him back and Hathi Ram realizing his mistake by staying shut shows how we all make mistakes in our relationship in spite of all love and respect we have towards each other.
The bond Kaaliya and Chinni shared, where the former made sure to be around Chinni just to check whether she is okay and later realising the purpose of her running after money was not greed but it was her love for him.
Last but not the least, how each and every person does something or is doing something out there which many a time does not have any meaning but we just do it, maybe we are inclined to do so or we feel it as our purpose. Tyagi not killing Mehra shows there is some humanity in each and every person out there and how animals are also part of this planet and it's our responsibility to take care of them and even if you can't do something extra for them, at least don't hurt them.
Every character was a lesson or a harsh reality in itself. Kudos to the beautiful script and no wonder it was produced by Anushka Sharma. Big Fan, always!
