Just thought of sharing this worse experience with all you guys
My friend sent me a used Chinese iphone through OVERNITE EXPRESS, which has market valuation of approx Rs 1800/- as it was 2 years old. So he gave the declaration with price of approx Rs 1800/- but in when it reached Pune destination from Bangalore, It’s was over 6 days, that I didn’t received my courier AWB.NO - 301543610. I called up OVERNITE Pune office on below numbers Lloyds Chamber 409 Mangalwar Peth Pune - 411011 Maharashtra 020-32416639/32416642 /32416641
Lady at customer service desk says my courier is held up by some Octroi person.
I will have to give sales tax /invoice bill, when my friend already gave a written declaration of Rs 1800/- for this personal used mobile then where is the problem??
As we are not any seller!!! Where we will find sales tax /invoice bill that too for 2 years old used mobile.
I said I am very happy to accept Rs 1800/- let you keep that old used mobile but Lady at customer service desk given me number of that OCTROI person DHANDGONKAR – 9689931728. I tried calling that person but don’t seem to pick up the phone and sometime it was not reachable. Now I have to do a job of "follow up" with OCTROI Person that too after paying them !!! It seems like staff is not paid enough to do their job properly! That is reason pushing everything on customers!!! is this way you treat customers? Leave them unaware not informing what is wrong with their parcel. Then one person named Gajanand called and said that there is been an Octroi fine imposed with charges of Rs 3950/- for old personal Used Chinese mobile of valuation not more than Rs 1800/- in today's market
So I said I don’t want mobile on that cost but please don’t do this kind of dirty work to steal someone else things, as stealing is big sin and one can ever utilize or enjoy committing a sin.
Overnite and Octroi people has collaborated to cheat all customers sending valuable item like this --SAD!!!! Big mistake that I told my friend to use OVERNITE! Better learned today than never. Somehow I got hold of Senior Manager and see what he has to say "you can always file a refund with the Octroi official as a customer directly in case of a dispute after paying the amount based on the papers and documentation you have".WOW SQUEEZE MONEY BY HOOK OR CROOK-- GREAT!
Why these people are getting greedy day by day too bad!!!One day corruption will take down this country and all innocent good people leaving in it.
After reading through I came to know that this is big racket of OCTROI people who has join hands collaborated with all major dealer distributor and reputed courier company like OVERNITE EXPRESS, who inform them about the high value item like mobile or other electronic device purchases. So this way they track down the goods by having complete knowledge. With complete knowledge it doesn’t matter if items are for personal use or for sale, anyway they try their level best to squeeze out money. If the buyer is fine heavily they share the profit earned from it with corrupt dealer /courier guys or incase items are held up in their stores they sell them at much lower price to dealer distributor which again sold back to a customer.
No one can help it as this a cycle and consumer is always a victim!!!What an Innocent consumer do with this complete corrupt system?
Answer is nothing – NO WAY OUT!!!
