I love the way Pandita keeps shifting and keeps changing gears every now and then. The storytelling is strikingly similar to'The Kite Runner' and'A Thousand Splendid Suns' . but Panidta has his own variations which surface every now and then.
The book will help you understand the state of J&K and the problems associated with the region. The image of Kashmir- both the one with the veil and the one behind the veil. The reader will be able to see through the blame game that keeps playing at the global level. The strategy adopted by Pandita here, I believe, is to first make you live as a Pandit and provide you with all the beauty and charm of Kashmir and then suddenly snatch it away from you. Just like it happened to all the Kashmiri Pandits towards the end of the 20th century.
I'm a man who prefers non-fiction over fiction. And the ideas and storytelling technique of Pandita is so absorbing that I finished the book in two days. I started reading the book on a train journey from Delhi to Ranchi and the next day when I reached Ranchi, I went straight to my study table and finished this beautiful work. Thank you for sharing this amazing story!
A must read and a must have. Something you can gift to others.
