Orkut was most popular social networking site during 2004 to 2014. It was founded in 2004 by Google. That time Facebook was not so much popular. I & My friends have also had account in Orkut in 2007. Orkut was founded by Google's employee orkut buyukkokten.
On 10/10/2006 Bombay High Court served legal notice to google for permitting a we hate India campaign against India. Google had given six months to respond. Now, community we hate India was removed during 60th Independence day of India by goole.
Sadly Orkut was shutdown in 30/9/2014 permanently. Now if you open https://orkut.com it will allow to join hello network.
One of the weak part of orkut because it had allowed we hate India compaign that nobody indian like such compaign.
