You may find it surprising but I am sure that the management of Orion Mall does not want serious shoppers to visit the mall. If exorbitant prices and poor selection of stores were not enough, visitors to the mall are harassed at every nook and corner by their so-called security staff(BTW, I feel these guys are a serious threat to the security of the mall).
Why am I calling their security foolish? Let's see. When you enter from World Trade Center(WTC) side, you are checked at 2-3 places, including X-ray machines, frisking(full body frisking, that is enough to put-off serious shoppers), metal detectors, and so on. When you walk in the mall from Dr. Rajkumar Road side, no one even bothers to ask you! When you come from basement parking side, there are again bare-minimum checks. How come people coming from one direction become a big threat while those coming from 2 other directions are not?
Finding parking in basement is often a problem, so these people will redirect you to WTC parking. If you have old people or children with you, it is really a big deal to walk upto the mall(and face so much harassment in the name of security). No wonder, the shops here are often empty, except the Star Bazaar and food court, where people spend some money to make their visit useful.
One may argue that these security checks are required. Yes, these are very much required. However, you can't check people walking in from one side of the mall and leave out others. It is extremely foolish of the mall management to think that threat walks in from one side only.
