Trust only Chirstie to set up a whole murder mystery around a nursery rhyme! One two buckle my shoe is one of the many master pieces from her genius brain! Oh Wait! Is it really a master piece? I think it is a potential master piece!
Plot:
Hercule Poirot dreads going to the dentist like many of us, after one of his appointments with his dentist Mr.Morley he learns that the dentist has been found dead! What could have possible gone wrong? Just in the morning the dentist looked all cheerful and in the afternoon he shot himself? Poirot soon learns that there is more to it!
Just when Poirot is about to meet Mr. Amberiotis, he is found dead too! And one of the patients who visited Mr.Morley Miss Seale vanishes the same night and on the patients list is a very important man, Alister Blunt - a powerful man in England whose death is awaited by many!
With so many things going on, will Poirot be able find who the murderer is? Will he be able to find Miss Seale?
What I like?
The book runs at a very smooth pace, the narration is extremely good! It keeps your interest all along, this by far was the most deceptive book of Christie I have read. The language used is not simple, its quite a challenge to understand all the words used ( The dictionary app came handy ) That is the whole Christie experience for a person like me who is not that good in vocabulary!
The sub plots are very interesting, in fact I felt that the sub plots were better than the whole plot it self especially the the track of Miss Seale it would put any Bollywood movie to shame!
One more interesting thing is that we get to see a more emotional side of Poirot, he is shown to respect human life no matter who dies.He says " I am concerned with the lives of individuals who have the right not to have their lives taken from them" That was a nice touch.
What I don't like?
As a reader I felt a little cheated in the end, deception is fine but cheating is a little different! I felt a few of the pieces of the puzzle were missing at the end. It all comes to an end rather abruptly!
When I completed reading the book there were many loose ends and questions running in my mind which doesn't usually happen with other books of hers. I think a lot of things were thrown in just like that just to mislead the reader without any logic! The climax was dramatic but it was missing the WOW factor!
The plot is ingenious all right but I don't know if it was handled properly, too many things were thrown in just for the sake of it that is my only problem with the book!
But overall a good book to read, would not let you down!
Recommendation?
A definite YES!
