I have read all the Chetan Bhagat books till date, so when I heard there was a new book in the market, I was definitely up for it. There are many Chetan Bhagat haters among us, who criticize him for his writing style, his ways of defining Indian thinking, and what not. As if the only writer they like on this planet earth is Paulo Cuelho maybe.
I personally like Chetan Bhagat's language, because I can relate to it, and moreover I am not a Master in English, I am just an average guy. And frankly speaking all his novels are liked by me, so on my way back from Delhi to Hyderabad I bought the book, as it was a 24 hour journey, I went on and on and finally finished the book and here goes the review:
The job in Goldman Sachs was described enough, which was good, the girl's salary was amazingly high, which was good, and to be true that is the only part of the story which I like, apart from that, the story never gives you that high, you never get curious about anything, everything was so cliched, the point when she refuses to get married, could have been written in a much better way. And wait for it, the worst is how it ends, I mean who ends a story like that. Many stories have open-endings, but what was that, "we laughed some more". that was not an ending at all. When I usually finish reading a novel I spend at least a day thinking about it, I mean thats how I am, but with this one I finished it and that's all.
A personal view: I am thinking about getting an MBA, and get a job in a bank, I researched the Partners actually earn a lot, all they need is to belong from a good business school. I can do that believe me!
