Finally writing review on One indian girl, The most anticipated book by most of disciplined, freaks and choosy freaks(like me). Need less to say about Mr.Bhagat who created a magic more than a revolution in the industry, unlike smart phones / iPhone how many books due we pre-book and hype it.Of course, it's one of a kind.
Legendary write up in various forums, famous speeches in elite institutions, hard hitting ariticles published in social media and his magical novels that hits the right chords in nervous system makes Mr.Bhagat a simply irresistible, when it comes to the ground where he gained his fame.
Honestly a reviewer like me is not qualified to write about a living legend at such young a age, but yes I paid for his novel which makes me a consumer who will have his right to Jort few words with the product he paid for.
Being a fan since "Five point some one", I placed order in amazon on day one the pre-bookings were opened up and anticipated for the day to the book to be arrived, quite unfortunate on the arrival day me and my wife came early from our office unexpectedly but as expected she planned for quick movie and nice dinner outside.Good news tickets and seats were available considering it to be start of the week, until I saw the package from amazon. It was a battle between outing with my wife or eye on the book I wanted to read desperately, unlike the reality Mr.Bhagat won the race leaving my wife red faced.
I started to read the life story of Radhika Mehta as expected first few pages really uprooted my curiosity. I was blown away with the choice of words and simplicity in sentences. The book d welled the jell of base women characteristics of women and career oriented lady, no matter how talented they are few things cant be changed when it comes to women. Good example of waxing in Radhika's case.
Characterization of radhika how she battles with the femininity inside her but how the nerd overpowered her, mini-me expecting attention seeking from opposite sex inside her, Her success, what she really wanted, what she got, her disappointments, break up, multiple tracks of her love life was tastefully written.
The surprise package was sex which is always touched at X level but this time Chetan has gone to XX level he takes 2+2 pages on lovemaking which can be considered Yuck by few people or can be called transisition to international level.Take the fact that every one does it though.
Not sure why Mr.Bhagat always beats the same bush of picking the plots from premium institutions like IIM, IIT.May be his style but people do get the sense of deja-vu.
Mr.Bhagat takes us to cinematic locations virtually, loads us with romance feeds us with feeling but misses the magic down towards end.
Last time with his half-girl friend Mr. Bhagat started his travel from india, moved to US and finally back to India, but this time he takes Radhika to 3 continents and she her love-break up's there.Definitely it strikes the chords of modern women and the hidden cultured mini-me in her.
I did half- girl friend in few sessions, but this one flat straight 6 hours I finished not because I wanted to but the narration made me to.But did I enjoy the full platter may be not as ending is not very convincing as I felt Radhika is back to Square 1 where she started.
I felt like having a extra ordinary meal but finished it with a ordinary desert.Certainly I would say its worth a read for Chetan's fan but not for sure will make more desperate fans to him if they are first readers.
My overall thought, it was like having cinematic, romantic, wild bore sex but sneezing at the time of climax.
