One Hundred Year Of Solitude is the story of human, the grit, the struggle and determination to develop and achieve the ultimate victory. As per The Times, “ONLY A FEW NOVELS CHANGE PEOPLE’S LIVES. THIS IS ONE OF THEM..........................................SWEEPING, CHAOTIC BRILLIANCE, OFTEN MORE POETRY THAN PROSE.”
A band of adventurers establish a town in the heart of South America jungle. The occasion mark the beginning of the world, of a great family, of a century of extraordinary events. <Gabriel Garcia Marquez if not the greatest , is one of the greatest writer I have read so far and this one is his best. Jose Acardio Buendia and his lovely wife Ursula left their home to escape the ghost of Prudencio Aguilar, whom Jose has killed because of Ursula.
They left home with few of their friends and after futile search for sea the cleared the forest to make a village for themselves Marcondo. After that this is the story of the civilization, how human acquire knowledge and information and quest of discovery and as a result develop themselves and loose the simplicity of the life.
With the off spring of Jose Acardio Buendia and Ursula starts the second phase of the story. The novel covers three generations after that, Mocando becomes a town from sleepy village.
Colonel Aureliano Buendia eldest of Jose was the most flamboyant character of the novel, a typical revolutionary South American war lord, very powerful and worshiped, and survived a firing squad.
The story is so dynamic, philosophical and detailed that simply can not be summarized, you emerge from the novel as if from the dream, the mind on fire and the soul restless.
As per Sunday Times “ AN IMMENSLY RICH PIECE OF WRITING, DENSE AS JUNGLE FOLIAGE AND PACKED WITH LEARNED ALLUSIONS, ACTION AND HUMOR- FULL OF INCIDENTS TO ENJOY AND PHILOSOPHIES TO WONDER AT.
This book is simply fantastic and I will end with the comments from spectator “ Classic on the grandest scale.... Garcia Marquezis a spellbinder”
