Almost all of my household goods got damaged in the process of shifting!
I opted to get my household items shifted through Omdeo Packers & Movers Pvt. Ltd. because of two reasons:
1) It was a reference and 2) They have a branch in the destination city.
However, my experience in dealing with them turned out to be a nightmare.
I scheduled the shifting at the origin city on Sunday 31st of March 19. They had committed somebody from their office would give me a confirmation call on Friday or Saturday. Around 4 pm on Saturday not having received any calls I called them up and got the assurance that their team would visit my place on Sunday. On Sunday around 11 am I received a missed call from them, when I called back I was told that their vehicle has met with an accident and they would come on Monday!
It was a huge Red Flag!
I regret not canceling the order and going through the alternative. I had to vacate the flat and I decided to stick with them. On Monday they came at about 11:45 am, in the next 3 – 4 hours we were supervising the loading of my household goods to the vehicle they had sent. The director of the Kandivali branch promised me that they would load some other goods in the remaining 20% or so space and the same truck would leave for the destination.
However, I was surprised that the vehicle that reached the destination was not the same. All my household goods were recklessly and mercilessly thrown into this other truck and almost every item was damaged.
Upon inquiry, they said the transporter had cheated them. When I asked about the insurance they said the insurance coverage was only basic(read claimable against theft and accident only) and I cannot claim against damages! They promised to repair and it had been an ordeal for me getting them to send the carpenters and other mechanics. I arranged the repairmen on my own and sent them the estimated cost of repair.
Their reply was, The estimated cost seems to be on the higher side and they would send someone from their local office for another survey. The local guy came and went back and now instead of committing a date for repair they keep talking about the transporter and other stuff. Finally, they suggested I should get the items repaired on my own cost and they would transfer some amount against the damages. Then they stopped answering my calls!
The only good thing about them is that they are soft-spoken. However please don’t mistake their smooth talking with professionalism. They hide their unprofessionalism and dishonesty behind polite behavior.
