Never judge a book by its cover.
It applies very correctly to Oakridge.
Good in facade and infrastructure.
Other things are horrible! Where do I start?
Admissions: They have a script and a model of working. The script goes like this:
At the gate, you are asked if you have an appointment. The guard(trained accomplice) will even look in a fake list to scan your name and even mutter today so many appointments. If your name is there then you will wait for 3-5 minutes. (If you are there without an appointment, then be ready to wait 15 minutes).
Once you reach inside the office, you are made to wait, again. After that, a counselor will come and make you feel as if very few seats are available and you have to close the admission immediately.
Too much gyaan over their'super' curriculums.
Overall over-promising of what the school will do and how your kid will go straight to Stanford or Columbia (Yes the advertisement ones). The truth is most classes have several vacancies, but the counselors are trained to show SOU or sense of urgency to make an SDC or Same Day Closure.
This is the holy grail. For this, the school will do anything to make you sign the cheque. Don't fall for it. Take your time, shop around; as some other review points out, they will call you back, and back, and back till you literally ask them to buzz off
1.Fees: Most complicated structure. They will briefly glance over the fees and you will be made to sign several pages. Some of the pages say 10% hike year on year. Hidden in the subtext is the change in the fees between the segment. Overall, expect the fees to double every~5 years(with one segment change) No wonder the new company took over Oakridge after paying 1500 crores)
2.Academics: The school (Newton) has several curricula. But the most snooty and unprofessional is the IB segment. PYP segment is all activity. Hardly any focus on academics.
3.Activities: Only only activities. It appears that they are using student activities as a medium to promote their school. Everything is done for WhatsApp-make a pose, click 100's of pics, and then share with parents, who are encouraged to upload on Facebook and WhatsApp. They even track each and every such status to see the social media lead.
4.Peer group: Horrible, rich and spoiled brats from political and business families. Drug usage and teenage sex are rampant. Newton campus is best avoidable.
The school's motto is don't lie; don't tell truth'. Don't send your child here if you want well-balanced education.
Send only if you have loads of money, have a business that your girl can run, and want to be on page 3.
Edit: They have a team that'manages' the online reviews like this. Most of these reviews are written by three sets of people:
First: Super happy parents(who kids are given the highest pampering) they speak to someone called Paddy / Patty in HO, who insists on a five-star rating, get the review edited by her team. Second: by staff member/ teacher's family member, who will praise the school of heaven.
Third: Ghostwriters and some of the alums. Most of all the reviews go through the desk of Patty. She will hammer you till death till you give a 5-star rating.
