Recently, I bought this phone after using Sony Ericson K750i for about 27 months Here are my views, thoughts as per my usage and experience with the phone For SPECS, please visit Nokia site Nokia N 72 A smart phone!
Nokia N72 similar to the N70, except the 3G technology It has 20MB of internal memory with RSMMC(Reduced size Dual Voltage Multimedia Card ) expansion which is hot swapable A 512 MB card included in the box
How does it LOOK?:Its a Personal perception! For me it looks DAMM good and cute The black bar with silver linings shines with glamour BUT its a fingerprint magnet! **Keypad:The keypad is very comfortable for my small fingers The numeric keys below are positioned well and the spacing between them good enough for you to distinguish them easily The backlighting of the keypad is perfect; it glows in soft light evenly under every buttonDisplay:It has 21 inch, 262k color, 176 x 208 pixels resolution TFT display which is very clear and big as well.
When you have a missed call or a new SMS, there is a popup window on the main screen which reminds you If you ignore it, there will be a small sign in top right corner which indicates that you still haven't checked out whose call you have missed or the SMS
Software Version:Symbian 81 OS with 28 edition user interface The advantage of the phone using an older version of the OS is that there are tons of available applications whereas the latest Symbian 91 S60 UI 3rd edition smartphones lack wide thirdparty software availability AT PRESENT
FEATURES:
Now let us look into the features of the phone What all are available in the phone
Phone book:
Nokia N72 phonebook has tons of field to assign to a contact and the can be organized by First or Last name For each name you can store Name and Surname (two lines), Company name, Position, 45 Phone numbers, Fax and Email address — totally 8 fields You can add any number of fields It also supports Speaker Independent Voice dialing which means that you can pronounce the name of the contact you wish to call and the phone will try and search it for you without you having to record your voice beforehand(It needs lot of practice though!!)
Photos can be assigned to individual numbers in the phonebookUnlimited number of user groupsSIM entries are stored separately, you can't view them with phone entries at once
Call Options:
Call lists, 20 each Incoming, outgoing and missed calls All records can contain not only time and date, but a call type as well You can set storage period for list entries (1 month is Max) One of the great feature in the phone is, it allows you to send a predefined text message to a caller if you want to reject his call but explain to him why you cannot talk right now.
This option as a great one because it allows you to inform the other person about your current unavailability without rudely rejecting it!
Music:
Music makes people come togetherThe music player in Nokia N72 is of a good quality even though it is not GREAT!
I was using Sony K750i all these days so when I compare its quality, N72 does not reach to K750 level But it has some good features as it supports playlists Nokia forgot to provide the most important feature, the equalizer! No bass, trebble option tooThe Music can play in background and the current song is displayed on the active standby display
Camera:
N72 has a 2 MP camera of a good quality The lens protecting cover on the back of the phone automatically activates the camera application when slid open This is not a good option as it opens unintendedly at times!
The capture button is situated for horizontal shooting mode but the camera does not support it!! I dont know why it is provided!Again, when I compare with K750i, N72 does not come anywhere closer It does not have a dedicated "macro" mode It has a night mode, have not tried it yet It has a flash but again, K750 had a better and powerful flash
Reception and Signal quality:
Network reception and signal strength are great The sound during calls is very good too My K750 had a very poor signal strength at my place and I had to run out of my house to take or make calls! But with this phone, I can even talk sitting on my comode!!
That good is the signal reception! And the speaker volume or the ear piece volume is just awesome With 25% volume I can hear very well even at a crowded place without any problems! I needed a ear phone for my K750 if I had to talk in a busy place!
FM Radio:
A good FM radio but it can be accessed only if you have the headset plugged in as it serves as an antenna (As in any other phone) I did not find any negatives in the FM part when I compare K750 and N72 but I guess Sony Ericson's ear peice's are good compared to N series and for N72 the ear buds are bit bigger than usual
Battery:It takes around 200 Min to charge the phone completely And the battery would be completely discharged in 2 days I dont use the music and Radio often in a day Though my call volumes are quite HIGH My K750 had a better life as it used to come for 23 days, but the display was very much smaller and thats one of the reason for it
USB 20 Support for computer:
Among the many features of this phone, this is one of the feature I LIKE MOST in this phone and I AM JUST ENJOYING IT!Install the PC Suite, connect the phone to your computer and you can do many things without touching the phone! Read, reply, forward, draft, save and delete the MESSAGE VIA computerAdd, delete, edit the contacts on the phone!
Synchronize the calender with the MS outlook on the computer This option helps me in keeping track of many of my commitments, meetings, birthdays, anniversaries etc!
Special comment:
Have read many reviews where they say that the phone software hangs quite often I have NOT experienced it in the last 50 days of usage
Final Verdict!:*
=======
