This year I decided to buy a WP or some new android phone(with dual core/quad core processors) and higher RAM. Earlier windows phone market place was bit limited and android Google store had already flourished with interesting software and addictive games.
I visited an online store. There were many lucrative offers from various companies from both WP and android domains. Finally I zeroed on Nokia Lumia 625, mainly because it has a right sized 4.7 inch screen and it is from Nokia; which is supposed to be more durable.
Now Pros:
1) Big bright screen
2) Brightly coloured back-cover.
3) User friendly software.
4) 2000 mAH battery.
5) Earpiece is quite loud.
6) Browsing internet is super fast, I never experienced any lag on 3g network.
7) Over 3g, Maps and Here Drive works wonderfully, using it I have reached many unknown locations far from my home without any problem, but I must say Google map and its navigation is also great.
8)'Onedrive' cloud storage is also great. uploading pictures works perfectly fine for me, whenever I clicked the camera the image is backed up in my one drive provided I am hooked to internet.
9) Another interesting feature is synchronizing the phone contacts, messages, mail ids, photos, with hotmail/outlook address. If you lose phone or change it with a new windows phone everything will be retrieved in your new windows phone.
10) Understanding the OS features is very easy.
11) Phone is hard, I have already dropped many times on hard floor, but nothing happened, a minor crack at a corner and some scratches on screen.
12) Network reception is better than some other reputed company made phones. but wi-fi reception is average.
Cons:
1) Headphone sound is just basic, neither good nor bad. But it sounds great with good
headphones manufactured by reputed companies, so the sound driver/software installed is very good. Check you have turned on the Dolby digital and equalizer and adjust equalizer settings.
2)Only 8 GB storage.
3) Inbuilt memory is low.
4)Battery is low. It will hardly last more than a day with moderate usage.
5) Phone becomes hot while navigating using GPS.
6) Music player does not list songs according fine name transferred from PC.
7) GOM player, Firefox browser, Opera browser, VLC player, Winamp music player are not available at windows store.
8) File management is awkward and needs lots of improvements.
9) Notification LED absent(Sony Xperia series and Blackberry phones falling in comparable price bracket have this great feature. For phones with notification LED the owner becomes aware of missed calls, messages, or e-mails without turning on the screen), although it has glance screen but I have kept that feature(and double tap feature) off because of battery consumption
Integrated notification has arrived with Windows Phone 8.1 update. So this major issue with windows phones is at last fixed.
Overall it's great device for a casual user(who will chat on Facebook, (Google services are not available) listen songs on Youtube, download songs from Nokia music store, Click some happy moments, drive to some relatives house using here drive app) because of its super fluidity.
But it is not a true replacement of laptop. Android phones have lot more flexibility.
