It's WAP here, it's WAP there. Even MouthShut.com's site is WAP enabled. So I would just drool when I'd see any person using a Nokia 7110. I got this cool piece last month….sometimes it helps to wait…cause when I enquired, the price was Rs. 21K but when I bought, I paid Rs. 14K…so not a bad deal, eh?
I have been using the Nokia 6110 previously…no reasons to switch to another model, except that it was not WAP enabled. I think there's not much difference between any of the Nokia models. Menu and navigation for the entire Nokia range of cell phones are the same.
The same games, same setting and personalization options etc.
However, my honeymoon with this phone lasted only a few days. Although am using it, I'd rather go back to my old sleek 6110. There's no incentive in buying the 7110 except that it's WAP enabled. And tell me, how many sites are WAP enabled. I tried connecting to the MouthShut.com site. I could connect only once of the 10 attempts that I made. Moreover, it costs Rs. 10 per minute to make a data call…that's not fair on the part of the providers. And the few portals that are WAP enabled in India are only accessible on a provider's network. Although some like Sharekhan.com and MouthShut.com can be accessed by any cell phone user with a WAP phone.
DESIGN
----------
I think the 7110 is bulky…it cant be carried in the upper pocket. Pant pockets…oh forget it.
Its design needs serious modification. Except for the large screen, Nokia has messed up big time on the design of this product. The earpiece is too small compared to the overall length of the phone.
The batteries do not last for 260hours standby time as Nokia claims in the catalog. I guess it's abt 60-70 hours standby time. The flap is irritating...you have to slide it down to accept calls.
Anyway, I know that Nokia realizes some of the faults in this phone…the ear piece defect cannot escape most users..
RECOMMENDATION
---------------
I would recommend this phone, ONLY if you are interested in buying a WAP phone…cause this is by far the BEST WAP enabled phone…I've tested Siemens and Ericssons' and they are no match to Nokia's.
