Have been using Nokia 6600 since June 2005. Wonderful phone but with a few flaws.
The reason I bought this handset was just to be able to get my PC connected to the net. I did have an option of going in for broad band or any other dial-up connection. But they did have their drawback. Getting broadband meant approaching a service provider. Understand all the packages offered. Pay installation charges. Also get limited MB usage after that pay per KB/MB of data transfer that takes place. And god bless me if I am not satisfied with the service provided. I could not switch over to another service provider so easily as the installation charges of 4.5 to 5 k would go down the drain. To top it all I would have wasted money getting a modem & forget recovering the deposit from the service provider.
What I considered a better option then was to get a GPRS enabled handset. Insert a SIM card & get going. If not satistied just remove the SIM card & use some other cellular operator. And I am happy I made the right choice & took the right descision.
This handset is a very good modem & a data transfer device. I use it to connet my PC to the internet via bluetooth. My PC is connected with a bluetooh adapter which has been paired with my handset to allow exchange of data to & fro. I have been using this handset as a modem since the time I have bought it & it has been dedicated just for this purpose, along with a dedicated SIM. I say dedicated coz I do not receieve or make calls from this SIM or the handset.
I might have clicked around 3000 pics with this handset & have got wonderful prints. You can download a many softwares & games as well. This handset has all the basic features that todays high end phones.
However there are a few flaws :
Does not have auto keypad locking.
MP3 songs are very soft.
Inbuilt video recording of just 9 sec.
Pic clicked with zoom on are blurred.
With 512 MB MMC the handset becomes very slow.
Battery drains off very quickly.
You cannot shoot mobile films with this handset & enter a contest.
And finally the price dip since I bought it. Can you Imagine buying a Nokia 6600 for INR 18,500. I dont need to mention todays price do I.
Over all a good decent phone provided you are not too ambitious & want to use it for basic operations that a phone needs to do.
