Subtle yet Stylish !!. Review on Nokia 6070

An easy-to-use and reliable entry-level handset, launched in July 2006 in India (February 2006 in FInland- The motherland of Nokia); having basic camera phone capability,a familiar Nokia design which includes a relatively large ( 128 x 160 pixels), an easy-to-read color display and a clear keypad layout (which has a nice feel to it)thusmaking messaging and dialling a breeze.

Comparison With Sony Ericsson K300

This phone is the same class and comparable with Sony Ericsson K300 which is its key rival.

Better Lookig than Nokia 6030 which this phone will eventually replace.

Motorola L6-pricewise only, but motorola is a new contender in this race. Moto comes with Bluetooth at this price (may appeal), but no FM in it. Personally, I dont wow by Motorola even for its slim-phone value.

The NOKIA 6070 is meant for people who want a decent looking handset, having a robust build quality and a good set of features. Typically if u want to upgrade from Nokia 6610/ 6610i camera phone (which I opted for)

Priced at Rs 5100/- (March 2007; was 5800/- in Sept 2006),theres no other candy bar phone which hosts similar features, meaning to say the package is nice, u get value for the money u pay.

The Series 40 user interface comes with solid range of functions

• An Integrated VGA camera ( 640 X 480 )- Take still photos (upto60) and videos(limited to16 seconds per recording)

-Stereo FM radio

-Mp3 ringtones, True Tones, Polyphonic MIDI..upto 24 chords

-Voice communication features include push to talk(its not supported by Indian networks), voice recorder and an integrated handsfree speaker, voice messaging, including SMS, MMS, Nokia Xpress,send audio messages using MMS, email and instant messaging

note:Voice/ Call Recording-upto 5 minutes, You can set recorded sound as ringtone.

-After Enablng GPRS(Internet): XHTML browser enables easy browsing for news and uploading images and videos for sharing supporting fast EDGE data communication Connectivity WAP 2.0 over GPRS/EDGE, XHTML GPRS (class 10) IrDA Pop port Interface J2ME, executable Java applications can be downloaded Plays video clips H.263 .

-Weights 88 grams only, fits in the hand easily and its comfortable inside the pocket.

Remember, The Nokia 6070 supports all the basics. . . . ( Not just Roti, Kapda aur makaan..but with pinch of salt, embroidered silk and nerolac paint respectively., Sorry-Poor Joke :-)

What you miss is Bluetooth...User Memory is paltry 3.2 MB dynamically shared ,no option to increase it. Dont be disheartened.Mp3 tones can still be set as ringtones even if you cant download full length (you'll realise this once you buy the phone) provided they are edited (using the comp. of course) upto desired time limit typically 45 seconds length .For transferring - Irda connecter or Data Cable -costs around Rs 200 -(one time buy)

So..U wont ask for more as long as u use it for its purpose. Its a nice handset and for its price, I wud give it

An advice : Intelligent Buying vs Easy Budget Screwing

There's a common dilemma faced by many when upgradng to a better phone. Almost all brands keep coming out with newer models every few months or so . As a Rule : Stick to the price bracket FIRST; followed by comparing different features. Don't Jump to a "mehnga waala" model by overclocking the preset budget just b'coz a glitzsy handset catches your fancy in the showroom. Easy to realise but one can be misled unintentionally by a friend/ seller into choosing a model for its glam value. No,I am not disuading you from making a switch to a trendier looking handset. Usuallyone tends to underscore the budget when cornering one handset out of the many available options .Not to worry ; Just apply a K I S S - "keep it simple sweetie"

This handset is advertised as having 16 MB memory, which is not the case.Out of the 3.2MB Total memory, 1.8 is for preinstalled apps. and remaining 1.4MB is free.So guys, before you step out do your bit of research beforehand (mouthshut .com is a gr8 help)and so that you aren'tmisled by anyone, anyplace.

Hope this review did not sound like a paid advertisement for nokia 6070, but it is a worthy phone.
