I have taken a Nokia 1600 set recently in replacement of
my Nokia 1100. All the features are attractive and useful so far(Touch wood - courtesy Nokia
Services) but there are some basic draw backs. The ringing tone volume is too
low at even maximum level to be heard clearly from a distance or the next room. The clarity of ring tone is also
not very good. In comparison, Nokia 1100 gives louder ring tone .
Sound volume in Nokia 1600 is quite satisfactory. The
Contacts List contains 2 line of addresses in black and another in illuminating
white . This is confusing as the black one is as prominent as the illuminating
white(Right selection) and sometimes one would dial the wrong number. On the
other side the design of the set and black colour is so smart that the set
looks expensive.
I am yet to comment on battery consumption, which appears to be lower than specified.
It would also have been very useful if Nokia could have provided an attachment
for using a second SIM Card at a reasonable cost for this model. The Torch facility similar
to Nokia 1100 also would have been an added attraction.
I am skeptical about going to Nokia Services as they are hardly of any use and
help. I suggest Nokia improves its service if they want to stay in the market
long.
