Battery life:

We purchased a Nikon Coolpix L110 for my nephew on 5th June 2010.This camera is priced at Rs. 15250/- along with 4 batteries & charger and a 4 GB memory card. The company also put in 4 normal batteries for 1st time operation. But we purchased it for Rs. 15000/- (and we got a carry case free with it, which would be worth around 400-450 in the market). I have found that buying a product from Authorised Dealers is better than going to company showrooms, as the former are more flexible on the price and add a freebie or two more.  We get the same guarantees and warranties, so that is not a problem.

L110 is a very good camera for beginners/non-professionals and weekend travellers. For this price it is very much a value-for-money - as we get a 15x zoom with 12 megapixels, whereas most other biggies only offer 10x zoom.  Its 'Auto Mode' takes care of everything, so that you don't have to worry about anything. It is a bit clunky yet comfortable to handle. Apart from regular features like self timer (5 modes), scene mode, vibration reduction it also incorporates the Smile Feature, which automatically detects a smile on the person's face and takes a photograph without you pressing the shutter button. Great for taking photographs of babies and surly uncles.

Cons:  The camera comes with 4 AA (pen-cell) chargeable batteries and charger. Two batteries face up and two face down. In the dark, this could be a little hard. May be a single chargeable flat battery like Sony's would have been better. Also the camera strap feels a little bit short . The flash is not automatic (it does not jump up and stand to attention) and has to be lifted up manually. So if you forgot, that's one shot wasted - who cares, we are not using film, are we?
