No rude anchors, who don't care for the sensibilities of the people.
No Sansani Khabar, Breaking News, Exclusive Reports.
No ego Maniacs who take it upon themselves to be Judge, Jury and Executioner.
No snazzy graphics, or loud BGM music that trivializes the issue.
No rubbish news on aliens, spirits, ghosts and miracles.
No
aggressive reporters thrusting mikes into faces.
I was despairing of watching a TV News channel in India, that followed the above rules. I actually stopped watching TV News channels, fed up with the Egomaniacs, Anchors who knew nothing, News Readers who just kept blabbering non stop, Experts like Pooja Bedi, Shoba Dee whose retarded views made me want to smash the TV set.
And add to that, a total lack of sensitivity to the victims of a tragedy, thrusting mikes in the face of survivors of an accident or terror attack, and asking "Aap ko kaisa lag raha hai". Damn is that a party.
And just when was i despairing of finding something sensible, that was the time I came on News X. The first time i really loved News X's coverage was during the 26/11 terror attack. While Arnab "I am God" Goswami, Barkha "My bark is worse than my bite" Dutt went about town claiming credit for getting "Exclusive" reports on the terror attack, it was News X channel that gave the best coverage of the entire incident. Not too in your face, no shrill headlines, no screaming and ranting, it was matter of the fact, to the point and yet rivetting.
Factors which came to light again in the coverage of the terrible Air Crash yesterday at Mangalore. There was no loud BGM music showing the crashed air craft or the survivors, it was an aerial shot accompanied by a VO, and the anchor Varun Grover , was a much refreshing change from the usual anchors. No rude thrusting of mikes in the faces of the survivors or their relatives, no shrill screaming and shouting about. After a long time, I got to see a News channel, which actully respects the people, which gives consideration to their sensitivities and their sensibility.
One more thing which i like about News X is their news reportage and broadcasting. You do not have the same headline, running in an endless loop, with loud irritating music. While they do use the BGM, its not as loud and irritating as in some other news channels. Also the experts they get in their studios, are people who actually know the field of their work. Not some out of work Page 3 celebs, who apart from yapping well in English, have nothing else to go for.
Even while focusing on more popular topics like Entertainment, Sports, Lifestyle, News X has made sure that it keeps the focus on the more relevant issues, at the same time not indulging in overkill. It has come out with some really good programs on Indian Army, especially the infiltration at LOC, it's coverage of the Gulmarg Avalanche has been exemplary. Again on the Maoist issue too, the channel has been giving some really good coverage, not indulging in shrill ranting or hysterics.
The channel's understated, restrained approach, is a welcome change from the usual, ranting and shouting indulged in by other channels. News X has proved that it is possible to mix solid content with eye catching reporting, and at the same time engage the viewers. It's minimalistic approach, with focus on the news, and less on irritating graphics and pop ups, is easy on the eyes. I just hope that it maintains it's standards consis
