Washing my face is a ritual that often, I actually find more of a chore than a pleasure. It was always hard for me to find the right product. I don't necessarily consider my facial skin to be sensitive, but I think so many facial cleansers are too harsh for the skin, stripping natural oils and creating a cycle of.more oiliness!
I prefer washing my face as part of my shower routine-I look for something that's fast and easy, that will remove all traces of dirt, oil and makeup-especially eye makeup. I also prefer something without a scent for my face. As I've mentioned in another epinion, my favorite brand of facial cleanser is Cetaphil because it is unscented and mild, yet effectively cleanses.
There are very few other facial cleansers that I will use instead of Cetaphil.
I bought Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser, and I bought Neutrogena Toner(but I haven't tried the Toner yet). I bought them both from CVS drug stores, and there was a coupon for$1.00 off Neutrogena products. I thought it was "pricey" for a drug store brand. The packaging was very ordinary, yet familiar to me because again, of the other products under this brand.
My experience with the product was not at the highest level compared to other Neutrogena products I have used or currently use. First, it was a little hard to ascertain how many times to press the pump to get just the right amount for me. Two to three depressions was plenty for me, it turns out. Before that, I was using way too much! It is a VERY thick, white(with a pearl-like shimmer) lotion(I wouldn't call it a gel) that was too thick for my preference.
I think it did provide a "foaming" quality, but it was not of great importance to me whether it did or not. I was concerned whether it would cleanse effectively-and would it rinse effectively, too.
While Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser DID effectively remove dirt, oil, makeup, and yes-even eye makeup including regular or waterproof mascara, I encountered some major drawbacks. The lather was TOO rich for me. The scent was TOO harsh for me-it was too perfume-y or soapy, too heavy. I did not find the experience particularly refreshing or feeling "fresh" because there was a slight residue left on my face. Plus, my experience is that if it gets in your eyes.it does sting!
After patting my face dry with a towel, I decided my face felt cleansed, but at the same time, it aggravated what I don't like about my combination skin-I think it emphasized the oily T-zone(especially my nose) and made other patches of my face feel dry. I think it may actually create the need to use Neutrogena Toner even moreso. This cleanser made me feel like my skin was more "sensitive" than it really is. It was as if I needed to wash my face again.with Cetaphil.
