Leaving the theatre with teary eyes and praises on our mouth is the significance of a great movie been shown! The only words I said while wiping my tears off were, “Pushpa, I hate Tears.” Neerja Bhanot the Ashok Chakra Awardee saved lives of people travelling in the Pan Am Flight during a Hijack.
Sonam Kapoor has done great justice to the role of Neerja Bhanot. She has played the character of this brave heart very pragmatically. Things will change for Sonam after her choice of role as Neerja from the fashionista of Bollywood to the actress of Bollywood.
The movie starts with Neerja and her parents celebrating. The movie shows a charming rapport with her brothers, parents and special one. All the characters have been realistically acting on screen. The movie also shows the side of Karachi that is dark and planning for something big. The makers of the movie have shown a heart touching relationship between Shabana Azmi(playing Neerja’s Mother) and Sonam(Neerja). This duo and their acting will certainly leave you teary eyed.
The till now light-hearted movie becomes intense when Neerja reaches the airport to serve her duty at Pan AM 73 – from Mumbai(Bombay, then) to New York via Karachi. After the flight lands in Karachi, it is hijacked by a bunch of terrorists. Neerja fights back with patience and calm and intelligence saves the life of many passengers and fellow crew members.
The screenplay, writing and cinematography is done excellently. It keeps the audience focused on the movie.
The monologue in the end by Neerja’s Mother will certainly make you weep. Sonam as Neerja has left an impact on everyone in such a way that her character will be remembered always. This is by far the best performance by Sonam Kapoor.
This movie teaches us a very important outlook towards life which is: “Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahi, Babumoshai.” This is also quoted in the movie many times.
Guys, this movie is a must watch.
