“The most successful man today is the one who is the most informed” these were my class teacher’s words when I graduated from school. Often, we never realize the value and immense truth in what your elders tell you at that very moment. It takes time to sublime into you. Right?
How true! I am sure you will agree with me when I say it is the wise chap with all news and info that really wins everyday. Be it an argument in a peer group, an interview or even piloting a conversation. Once u have your facts straight and your fundas are right you can never get tongue tied.
Being well informed is certainly power. It doesn’t take erudition or acquisition to reach great heights. So people, keeping up to date and being clued up is the key to knowledge and hence success. One way to be well informed is to follow a newspaper, a news desk or news magazines. All of these convey happenings in and around your neighbourhood in a monthly, fortnightly, weekly, daily, or even hourly manner.
Thanks to technology, we can get to know about virtually anything, anyplace any time sitting at home.
One such news desk is NDTV (formerly associated with STAR network but are on their own network now) this is being piloted by Pranoy Roy (yup, still with his trade mark beard, looking dashing as ever).I can distinctly recall growing up watching world this week with mum n dad.
NDTV24X7
New Delhi Television
A comprehensive news channel that lives up to its name. A 24 hour news channel that you would love to watch, if watched once. Compared to a few other news channels, I can say these people have been in this business for quite some time and know what they are doing. Clarity, audio, video coverage and delivery- the whole package is above average and very pleasingly acceptable.
A few must watch ones include
Tonight at 9 with Pranoy Roy
Big fight (Rajdeep Sardesai) he quite literally puts the people in question in a predicament
Night out: live from parties and new openings. A reach out to clubs and discotheques, restaurants et all
Walk the talk (Sekhar Gupta-editor NIE): an innovative kinetic one on one with luminaries
We the people (Barkha Dutt): heated up arguments, on sensitive issues mainly designed to get both sides of the story. Participants include eminent people from different walks of life, page3 glitterati and most importantly citizens affected by the issues.
The other regulars include the sports update, business report, weather report (!) and so on.
They come up intermittently with some specials that are very interesting.
For instance? Mr. sardesai filming the entire campaign of Uma Bharti!
We realize that however much one follows his heart and dream and lives for what he believes in, somewhere down the line your work does become money minded and you tend to get into stereotypes
That’s what news channels have become these days.
Everybody has the same things more or less, the flash news passing at the bottom, the weather report in the side, interviews, talk show et all
What really stands out to me most is NDTV team
Vibrant really dashing newspersons
What do I have to say about Pranoy Roy!!
He is to news, what dairy is to cows!
A few others
Pankaj Pachauri, Abhigyan Prakash, Rajdeep Sardesai,
Ajai Shukla, Arnab Goswami, Vikram A Chandra, Shivnath Thukral,
Barkha dutt, Sonia Verma, and lots more
I assure this team won’t let you down.
Knowledge is power
(not just a cliché)
