Trains, Railways have always been fascinating to me.For many reasons I do not/ can not perform my journeys by train
(Some reasons are: time, connectivity, crowd etc.)
The place is in Chanakyapuri, near embassy of Bhutan. The parking is not much crowded, so Delhi's biggest tension is over.
Then you can buy ticket for the museum, it is for displayed loco engines and other displayed articles indoor and outdoors, they run a toy train, replica/ simulation of original train journey. You will have to buy ticket for that from ticket window situated inside the museum.
This is not compulsory, but surely fun.If you are a big group then you can divide your group in two and when one group is on the board another can shoot them and vice versa. There is a nice cafeteria, reasonable prices, limited verity but good services. The best part it is at a height so you can have view of running train while sipping your coffee.
This museum has many engines on the tracks, all relevant information is written in Hindi and English.
Apart from huge engines there is one section, that has miniatures of different loco and related articles, eg communication devices.
There is a little garden inside, that was not maintained during my last visit, but the officials available said soon the gardens will be maintained, I hope by now gardens must be ready, even if those are not this museum worth a visit.
