Sobha shyam a, sick psychiatrist.Must have been an INPATIENT OF Nimhans.Unfortuntately Kasturba Medical college has appointed her.God knows 4 which position.Nimhans, stands to gain from her absence. One nuisance less.Dr.Janardhan Reddy seemed good.So also nagaraj bal gangadhar. The front of nimhans stinks of urea becos there's where people urinate.Out of few crores of rupees allocated for The national mental health programme, 90% of the money has gone to nimhans. And less than 1% of Total health budget is, earmarked for mental health.National mental health programme funding is all about nimhans monopolising because the Lions share of the NATIONAL mental health budget goes to nimhans and therefore bengaluru and karnataka.pg doctors get lakhs of rupees per month as stipend.Thats the only attraction for psychiatry.money. So any shortcomings in NMHP implies substandard performance by nimhans.we need not go and sleep in nimhans to write a review because they are looting NMHP budget. And Bengaluru benefits. Also aiims.this kind of nimhans-monopolised budget allocation should be stopped. They are behaving like east india company.the total budget for national mental health programme is a miserly 40 crore rupees out of which which80% is not utilised.nimhans further got 200 crores for its telemedicine services.well, this budget allocation will favor only kannadigas and bengaluru resident patients.what about the patients in other states? I tried to get an appointment for a patient at nimhans telemedicine dept. forwarding a very detailed clinical history of suspected but unverified delusion of antinational activities in indian army. Also provided details of some new drugs bcos the patient was on old generation antipsychotics with lots of side effects. But the response was PSYCHIATRISTS NOT INTERESTED IN TELEMEDICINE! Then why is our SALES lady handing over close to 560 crores just to nimhans. Out of which 200 crores is just for telemedicine consultation.Once when I stepped into nimhans after urinating on its, wall(, becos pedestrians use nimhans wall for urinating).I saw patients smoking cigarettes inside the hospital! Pedestrians pissing on nimhans and patients smoking in nimhans.Truly an institute of national importance.Actually its importance is local.I think our finance minister is allocating too much money to nimhans instead of pitching in for diversified budget allocation over the length and breadth of the country. She has invested all her or our money in nimhans. It should be equitable distribution of MH resources. Mental health budget allocation needs to be decentralised.1 in 7 or 1 in 10 Indians got MH issues. How can your MH services reach out to patients spread out amongst 1.4 billion people of this country by handing over 90% of the budget/ cash to just one hospital in Bengaluru? And atleast 10% Indians need MH services.
Let existing mental health hospitals in other states
also get reasonably good funding.let district hospitals and other smaller peripheral health centers get good funding. We dont need such dinosaur sized institutions. They are too taxing for the citizens. The output is rubbish compared to the money pumped into nimhans. This is insane.Handing over the entire budget money to one hospital is insanity beyond comprehension.some genius IAS officers must have advised this marvellous idea to swami subramaniams gifted sales girl.feed nimhans and every patient in the country will be cured.
