National Geographic magazine translates the adventure, discovery, travel, Animals, people and places into fascinating reading and spectacular color photography.

From inner man to outer space, marvel of the tiny Soyabean’s giant role in world economy to death of ancient civilizations, a worldly wilderness of Californian desert to Glaciers on the move, gleaming beetles from central America to high, wild world of Vicuna in Peru, National Geographic brings engrossing articles to life.

As a regular subscriber, I have been experiencing the pleasures of leafing through copies of the Magazine since my school days. In fact, I developed interest in Earth Science because of this magazine.

National Geographic is the magazine I trust most not only for its coverage of exploration, adventure and cultural icons on the global landscapes, but also for the brilliant prose, vivid glossy photographs, illustrated maps/drawings and compelling stories.

It is widely regarded as a model of lucid reporting. Each article presents exacting scholarship in a way that will appeal to a wide range of readers, regardless of the field.

The articles are informative, incisive, insightful and exciting to read. The writers and photographers who explore the world, do it with tremendous patience and ingenuity. Each issue of the magzine includes Features ,Departments ,assaignments, flashback etc,.

The features of the latest issue ,for example, include:

Chile’s Wild Coast : Battling furious winds and rain, a team of cavers explores a bleak island at the bottom of the world, the Chile’s Wild Coast.

Marco Polo :Trusted by Kublai Khan, Marco served in his court 17 years, noting wonders from rice wine to paper money.

Asia’s Last Lions,:Extinction stalks the Asiatic lion, a regal subspecies now crowded into a single sanctuary in India’s Gir Forest.

Wales:Pride in its ancient – and tongue-twisting-language and an economy on the rise are powering the new Cymru.

Oil and honor at Pearl Harbor: Sixty years after Japanese bombers sank the U.S.’s Arizona, the silent wreck still sheds fuel oil, drop by drop, over the memories of hellish Hawaiian morning.

Djenne ;Eternal city:Architectural gem of West Africa, Mali’s holy city of Djenne rebuilds after years of drought and decay.

Apart from such regular features the magazine also covers departments like

Forum:The Magazine through cyberspace Forum invites you to join the global conversation on a range of topics like Aid to vanishing cultures ?Help or hindrance ? Day care in High school? Etc.,

Earth Pulse: is a multifaceted public awareness campaign launched by two organizations namely, The Geographical society and the Ford Motor Company to harness and encourage better stewardship of our planet. This campaign through their interactive website inspires people of all ages to increase the knowledge of, and involvement with environmental issues. The initiative includes,For example:

National Geographicmonthly reports on Earth's ,''vital signs,,'' from the oceans to the ozone, showing readers how the issues affect each one of us, why we should care, and how we can become involved in making things better.

Ask us: Includes many interesting questions in each issue like, Q), What does the giraffe do with its head and neck when it sleeps? A)Giraffes sleep only about 30 minutes a day, although they doze while standing ,drooping their necks

The magazine also includes 3-D images of the the solar system ,planets ,extra-terrestrial weather patterns etc.,.

The National Geographictruly brings you the world up close with rare sensitivity and in sparkling color.
