We had purchased a flat in 2002 which was almost furnished. The dining chairs were damaged but the table was in good condition. It took 4 years to put our thoughts into action, so decided to look-out for chairs.
On an unfortunate day in August 06, we(me and my hubby) passed by this shop called National Furnitures on Lady Curzon road. The shop had some great furnitures displayed, so thought it to be reputed. We gave our requirement to a manager named Mukthair, he promised to deliver our chairs in a week's time. He offered to come home to collect the advance amount since they did not accept credit card. The manager seemed to be a professional guy and I had no clue that he was an imposter. He was supposed to get a fabric brochure which was not finalized by us while placing an order. He came home next day to collect cheque and requested us to only sign and fill the amount. He leaves our home with a promise to get the brochure but never returns.
Couple of days later he calls up and says that the delivery may extend by one week as the chair structure was bit complicated. I had no option but to agree. The thought that he could be fraud kept lingering in my head for a week.
After a week, I get another call saying that the chairs are at my door steps and all they see is a door locked. I was away attending a function so I ask him to deliver next day. I kept eagerly waiting but this manager did not respond to any call of mine. I made several calls and finally was able to talk with this fraud manager. He says that two of the chairs were damaged while taking it back from my home. I was convinced that he was faking the entire situation so decided to take the matter forward to the shop owner.
I got in touch with Imran's(Owner of the shop) and briefed up the story. He promised me to resolve this long pending issue. I went to their shop and narrated all the acts of disloyal manager to the owner. Imran was aware of the manager deeds but did not act fast. He also tells me that the manager had taken lot of money from customers without issuing any order form. Many other customers like me were duped!
Imran promised me to handover chairs in a week's time. I made several calls to the shop but none responded. I consoled my heart saying that the shop had lean staff strength as it was Ramzan time. In between Imran cell number was changed and I had no one to get an update from. Inspite of repeated request, the staff never gave his latest cell number. Somehow I managed to get his number atlast. I finally threatened Imran saying that I would go to police if I don't get my advance amount back. He promised me to give that amount in a day's time. I waited in his shop for couple of hours with a decision not to leave his shop without my money. Finally I was given my advance amount in cash. There came an end to all the pains and troubles.
I got my money back after two months. If any of you have placed an order at National Furnitures recently and if your instincts say that your order will never be processed then act on it.
I ventured into an unknown stranger when I had an option to deal with known devil!
