NASSCOM is the voice of the Indian IT industry. It is the association of computer software & services industry. A forum NASSCOM is very much required for professionals in the software services industry to voice their collective opinion. NASSCOM for example had a big role to play in the IT Act 2000 which is the piece of legislation passed by parliament last year. NASSCOM has helped shape lot of government policies affecting the IT industry. Having a very enterprising leader like Dewang Mehta who is the president of NASSCOM helps. NASSCOM also provides a forum for the IT industry to interact with each other and help each other innovate and grow the industry as a whole. It also provides a nodal agency for the outside world to interact with the Indian IT industry and also vice versa.
Being a software professional myself I can tell that NASSCOM is doing a good job of projecting the IT industry in the right perspective.
