NANCY DREW -GUTSY GIRL
When singers like Aly and Aj sing go go strong girl, we men think why is there any need for girls
to be encouraged to become more stronger, they are already so strong, I know their strength one of my friend said he will willingly give up his life, if he gets a sweet smile from the girl he likes.
Is this strength or what, can any man do this to a girl? no! no!
Disney company makes beautiful movies, they have abundant taste, they made in 2002 a Television Movie: NANCY DREW with Maggie Lawson in the lead role, this is a very charming actress, Now before We dive into the movie details, please let me make a few points of distinction between a work of writing and work of movie making.
Mildred Wirt Benson created a Heroine called Nancy Drew, many of my contemporary females were super fans of Nancy drew novels, I never touched them, I had to maintain my gender distinction, I know a few 100 thousand females grew up reading Nancy Drew. All these female readers grew up imagining a face and figure for Nancy. The movie makers do not have access to different brains of the readers of Nancy, those images are private, they exist only in the brains of readers. Moreover writings provoke imagination juices, movies provoke visual juices.
The visual juices you have in Nancy Drew done by Maggie Lawson, there are many good actors and pretty faces(Jill Ritchie) as Bess, she looked a doll, other friends of Nancy(Lauren Birkell)
George lending contrast and if there was a lack of round faced tall beauty, you had it in
(Marieh delfino) Teeny, she looked and sounded pretty with her Brazilian accent.
(SABINE SINGH) looked tasty and delicious as Allison Price, she played the girl in love and the
pre-med student and also the president of(tri-pi) sorority house, the 3 fresher are quiet
impressed with her and she looked the part, she looked delightful crying, she looked delightful
walking, she looked delightful talking, over all her short nose and tall frame were wonderful
watching. The sections each character occupied in this film were well defined. Disney magic.
Nancy Drew and 2 friends join college, each of them try to do the things they like most, Nancy
Drew is told by professor Shifflin(James Avery) that she might get a chance to write for the
River high Journal, The temptation to become a contributor to the school newspaper proves to be
too much to let go, as things would have it, there is a seizure suffered by lead player of the
college team, this player is a boy friend of Allison Price. Nancy smells a article to the
consternation of Athletics Director, Team Coach, Detective Patrick Daly(Heath Freeman) and even
her father(Brett Cullen) Carson drew, a successful lawyer. He loves his daughter and disapproves
her devotion to the investigation Nancy is carrying on to unearth the proof of use of performance
enhancing drug called Aferon, This drug is being used with the knowledge of the college management.
The scenes are quiet pacy and the story progress is racy. You will not get a chance to enjoy the
very delectable dialogues all thru the film, watch out specially for the dialogues of James
Avery(professor Shifflin) one time he accuses Nancy of PLANTICIDE. There are some funny exchanges between friends, coach, detective all thru the film, this is very entertaining in places, my view of this film is 4 stars.
I can list out several plus points, one is the special vibrant color reels of this film, the other
is the genuine college atmosphere maintained thru the streets, gardens, events etc., You can
detect academic feel to every scene. There is girlishness everywhere, imagine Nancy throwing down lots of pairs of shoes to create a diversion to escape from a tight spot, there are no villains,
just people reacting to situations at hand.
I liked the happy song and reactions on Nancy's face after the printing of the article in the
college newspaper. This is a very simple film, that is why it must be appreciated, this film
leaves you intact. I would love to show it to my KIDS, I will shun all films of SUPER SOILDERS,
Scenes with lots of body mutilations action movies, hardcore violent movies, ear drum shattering
special effects intensive science fiction movies, you do not have to stop being HUMAN to enjoy
this movie. Be yourself and still be entertained. Enjoy the simple conflicts.
Flying, falling, giants, brooms, earth under threat are all too much for tender minds of kids.
