The movie has an enticing name and an interesting star cast. Given the fact that the Bollywood has been riding on the wave of female dominated roles from the past few years,  the makers of the movie Naam Shabana, too, thought about cashing onto this advantage. However, the movie falls flat.

Naam Shabana has been touted as the first spinoff movie in the Bollywood( it is the spinoff of Baby) and the movie heavily inspires from the original movie, which is a huge let down. Shabana( Tapasee Pannu) is a girl with a troubled past and a failed relationship. Pannu has packed a lot of punches in the movie and she is impressive as a boxing girl, however, her character has been stymied by a poor plot.

Shabana's penchant for boxing and her in-built aggressive character inadvertently lands her a job with the intelligence agencies, who hands her the task of wiping off a few goons and an international arms trader. With Ajay( Akshay Kumar) giving her company, she goes about her job of eliminating the bad guys in the movie.

Tapasee Pannu is excellent while beating the goons to pulp, however, surprisingly is pretty ineffective at emoting scenes. Her character is quite complex and she definitely lacks the finesse to pull off such a character. She has not handled the troubled past of Shabana effectively in the movie. Akshay Kumar has a guest appearance and he impresses us all. Akshay looks like a natural in the movies that have huge dollops of patriotism running through them.  Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee and the rest of the supporting cast are honest in their portrayals, however, the script does not really have enough detailing for their characters.

The dialogues in the movie are vague at best and they sound more hilarious than serious. The character of Shabana is given way too many vague dialogues, even Akshay Kumar can be seen mouthing some really weird dialogues. The plot of the movie is confusing, however, the cinematography is still good. The background music of the movie interferes with the narration way too much.

Overall, the movie drags way too much. It starts promisingly, however, the plot becomes extremely predictable. The performances are just about average. The dialogues are superficial and hilarious. Avoid the movie.
