AC wrote excellent murder mysteries. N or M is one of a slightly different genre- Tommy and Tuppence are a (now middle aged) couple who have spent a lifetime tangling with mysteries and associated 'hush hush' stuff. Tommy works for a (nebulous) secret service agency, while Tuppence is an intuitive and extremely manipulative sleuth (and a house wife!).
This book is up to the usual AC standard, and within the time frame it was written (circa WW2) a good read. Its not in the same category as 'The 39 steps'-but a good yarn nevertheless.
You could try 'The Secret adversary'- an early Tommy and Tuppence book- also available as a free ebook off the internet. In a similar vein 'Why did'nt they ask evans?'. Or read the Hercule Poirot series by AC.
The books are slow by 'Die Hard' standards(!)- but that's why I like them!!
Recommended.
