My Name Is Khan! A nice movie. Review on My Name is Khan

My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist:

My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist, the line says it all. I saw this movie with my family at some multiplex and really liked it a lot. It not only gives out many messages but is also an entertaining movie.The cast includes Shah Rukh Khan(Rizwan Khan), Kajol(Mandira), Jimmy Shergill(Zakir Khan-Rizwan’s brother) and Soniya Jehan(Haseena Khan-Zakir’s wife).

The Story:

Basically the story is about the journey of Rizwan, who wants to meet the US president and give him a message saying “My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist”.And this journey begins after the death of his step son Sameer Khan( Mandira’s son from his earlier husband). Rizwan tries very hard to meet him but fails many times. However he never gives up and keeps proceeding and keeps helping everyone he meets in this journey.

Aspergers’ syndrome:

Rizwan suffers from Aspergers’ syndrome, a condition in which the person is phobic to new places, new people, loud sounds and yellow color. Such person cannot express his feelings well and does not react to emotional things. However, despite being in this condition, Rizwan shows unmatched intelligence and also has the skills to repair almost anything. Rizwan’s mother teaches her some valuable lessons in life right since childhood, which makes him a good and pure hearted person. However, Zakir feels left out as their mother pays more attention towards Rizwan. So after graduation, Zakir shifts to USA and starts up his brand of beauty products.

Entry To USA:

When their mother dies, Zakir calls Rizwan to stay and gives him the job of sselling their products. Haseena(Zakir’s wife) discovers that Rizwan suffers from this syndrome and helps him in getting over it.Now Rizwan meets Mandira(who owns a beauty salon) one day while selling his products. Rizwan falls in love with her and eventually they get married. After a few months, the 9/11 attack on WTC(World Trade Centre) takes place and the Americans start ill-treating the Muslims. This continues at Sameer’s school and in a small fight at football ground,he gets injured seriously and dies. Mandira loses her sense that time and in anger tells Rizwan to go away and return only when he has met the president and told him that he is not a terrorist despite a Khan.

The Journey of Faith & Good work:

So the journey begins and he keeps trying to meet him for around 2 years. He faces lot of difficulties, but he crosses each hurdle and moves on. The police arrests him and charges him on grounds of terrorism and tortures him a lot, however he is proved innocent later and released. He continues to do his good work and becomes famous in some time. At the end, the President of USA himself comes to meet him and praises him in front of the whole world.

Nice movie to watch. I gives a lot of things to learn like: never lose hope, Have faith in your faith, Be good to everyone and anyone and many more.

One negative point, the movie is a little lengthy like my review, so you need to have a little patience. However it’s a must watch if you want to see a meaningful movie from which you can learn something
