I lived at Dehradun for over 11 yrs(1986 to 1997) and I was the great period of my life and those memories I could never still forget. I have visited many place when I was in dehradun like Rishikesh, FRI forest, haridwar and many more, but Mussoorie was the place which we visit very often.
Since we lived at Dehradun itself, we usually plan for just one day visit to the Hill Station and just takes a little more than 1 hr to reach the place and return back the same day. We usually visit just limited places in a day like - Children's garden(i am not sure about the place) but it comes just before Mussoorie.
Then The Kempty falls. Its a beautiful place and we have walk down to reach the falls. On the way we can enjoy Python snake for photography and so on. The Falls water is very strong and very Chill but since it falls in Great force, u wont feel the chillness. The Falls also has a bridge for top view and photography.
Then we visit the lake. but not very often. I could not remember about the lake, but the lake had boating.
Then we visited the Rope car. Since my mom fears to go in that, only my brother and my dad go in that often and enjoy and we just used to watch them and go for small shopping.
The place also had horse riding and we used to go up the hill little more in the horse and its more enjoyable.
There are also shops which does the special costume for honeymoon couple and for photography. I am not sure these exist there anymore.
And after enjoying all these, we return back to home before 7pm.
The place was not that clean but the roads wer all clean and are wide enough just like Ooty road. We used to travel to Mussoorie in out car Fiat Padmini and that y it take about more than an hr. If u travel in today Innova or Sedan, u would reach in less than 45min depending on the traffic.
There are also restaurant there, but since its been long time. I dont remember any one them as of now. Also we carry our own prepared food from home!
Overall, just like ooty, Mussoorie is a must place to visit if u visit Dehradun. I miss this place a lot!
