Hindi movies are becoming more and more open these days dealing with issues like extra marital affairs, gay/lesbian matters, live in etc.

Murder is one such bold attempt by new director Anuraag Bose where theres tons of skin show, bold scenes, usage of some forbidden words and a scandalous theme of an extra martial affair.

--- story ----

Is about a couple in Bangkok who play this ''all looks well but is not really well'' husband wife. The wife, Mallika is a modern woman who had a boyfriend in her past with whom she nurtured many dreams. Somehow caught with the guilt of her sister's death (which happened in plane crash) and the responsibility of taking care of her family (which also included a helpless infant, then), she marries Ashmit Patel.

The marriage has numerous issues, the biggest one with Ashmit trying to find his first wife in Mallika. More issues and family tensions finally lead Mallika to her former boyfriend in Bangkok. A woman torn between her physical desires, a mother's duty and a wife's fidelity ultimately lets the flames of lust engulf her senses and shamelessly gives in to her boyfriend's advances.

Its not long before the suspicious husband 's mind is fully convinced of his wife's faithlessness and he hires professional help. All hell breaks loose when : he gets confirmed proof of his wife's adultery , the boyfriend turns out to be a scum, the wife realizes her mistake and one of them gets murdered.

rest of the details can be best seen and enjoyed as a part of the film.

--- performances ---

The director has done a decent job for a newcomer. I didnt feel that the movie was dragged at any point in time and my interest levels remained the same throughout the movie.

The bold scenes are shot with style and did not look obscene.

The chemistry between the old lovers and the frustration of the estranged husband and his guilty wife is brought out well.

Emraan Hashmi steals the show with his casual acting and has potential to become a good performer.

Ashmit Patel is also good as the role of a dignified yet callous husband and can fit in similar roles.

Mallika Sherawat gets an author backed role and she does a decent job as well and looks comfortable in bold scenes.

Her makeup , however is not upto the mark. Certain scenes show her looking very dark or bereft of any grace. Some amount of heavy breathing , panting , overreacting could have been mellowed down as well.

---- Songs ------

More than the songs, the picturization and the entry of every song is handled well . All songs fit the moment and some of them are catchy.

  • The number ''Kaho na kaho'' is naughty and breezy and fits the mood.

  • ''Beeghe hote tere'' is another passionate song which is quite aptly picturized on the forbidden lovers.

  • The Kashmira Shah number has an OP Nayyar touch and reminds you of some black and white gems like '''' aaayiye meherbaan'''' or ''raat akeli hai''.

Overall a fine movie with a gripping end and good performances by all the lead characters.
