What started out to be an attraction is now becoming into something else, The unimaginable has happened! I am in Love! In Love with a dead woman! In Love with the genius she was!
Yes! I love Christie with all my heart for the books she has managed to write, for the plots she has thought of, the characters she has built, She was God's own child I believe! The sense of joy I get while and after reading her books is just unexplainable!
A Murder is Announced is a typical Christie book if I can say so, it takes its time to establish all the characters and the plot and after the "murder" is over, the race begins to find the murderer and the climax is no more less than a Bollywood movie. This book has all the ingredients of being an enjoyable read. The twists and turns are to die for!
The entire plot is based on the happenings in Little Paddocks owned by Lettie Blacklock, where she is attacked by a stranger! What's more intriguing is that the entire village gathered in the house after reading the Gazette ( local newspaper ) which had a rather unusual ad! It said that A murder would take place at Little Paddocks!
And sure A murder took place... But, the man who was supposed to kill someone was found dead and someone was attacked, was it suicide ? Someone is after Lettie! Some one is after the money that she is going to inherit soon! Inspector Cradock needs to catch the murderer before he/she attempts again!
Through out the book there are various hints provided by Christie quite intelligently which only a careful reader can decipher, If you just want to enjoy the book and not worry too much about the murderer that can be done too, but when its over you will feel like banging your head!
One of the things I dint like was that there were way too many characters, sometimes it became very difficult to digest what was going on and I read it over a span of 5 to 6 hours, so it became quite impossible to remember all the English names!
I was extremely excited to read a Miss Marple book, I was waiting for her entry in the book, and Miss Marple dint disappoint at all! All though her role can be termed as a Cameo but she still manages to stay in your mind.
Over all a great read and a big YES from my side! :-)
