Wow.... David Dhawan is back. Mujhse Shaadi Karogi has sure lived up to expectations. Especially, after films like Dulhan Hum Le Jaayenge and Yeh Hai Jalwa, which were responsible for Salman's downfall, David Dhawan himself has revived him with this film.
The Story
MSK is all about how two guys Sameer (Salman Khan) and Sunny (Akshay Kumar) competes to marry the same girl Rani (Priyanka Chopra). Salman is a angry young man who gets involved in a lot of fights and thus his lady-love Amrita Arora gets married off to another guy. This makes Salman repent of his anger and he goes to Goa to work as a lifeguard a.k.a Baywatch. Here, he falls in love with Priyanka and with the help of a local pundit (Rajpal Yadav, who also doubles up as Eagle gang member a.k.a SRK in Josh) he tries to win her and her family member's hearts.
But things don't fall into place. Everytime, whatever he does, he invariably hits Amrish Puri, a retired Colonel (Priyanka Chopra's father). Akshay ''Shani'' Kumar takes advantage of this and he impresses Priyanka as well as her whole family. Whatever good Salman does... playing the guitar, painting a portrait of Priyanka or giving money to Priyanka for her fashion show (she's a fashion designer), Akshay manages to get all the credit. And whatever bad Akshay does... drink, sleep with Bijli (Shefali ''Kaanta Laga'' Jariwala), Salman gets caught doing it.
And to top it, Eagles-gang members treats Salman as their boss, because he had once got into a fight with them and had won. Also, Salman's dadi (Shashikala) messes up Priyanka Chopra with her mother (Supriya Karnik), and Amrish Puri thinks that Salman is in love with Priyanka's mother (remember, Priyadarshan's Hungama).
Who gets the bride after all ?.... go watch the movie
Cast and Performance
The film has a huge star cast, and everyone was good. Salman Khan, Bollywood's original good-looking guy was looking good with his new hairdo. Unlike Tere Naam, this haircut is rather smart and cool. And acting.... Salman has done justice to his comic role. He plays the loser and has enacted his role superbly. Akshay Kumar plays the role of a wicked room-mate who competes for the same girl. There are no doubts about his acting. As for Priyanka Chopra, she does need to tone up her acting a bit. Rest of them, Amrish Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Kader Khan, Satish Shah... all performed well.
As for drawbacks, the film doesn't have much. Except that the script could have been a bit better and there was one technical error, which is very much visible... that is, when Salman chases Akshay and Priyanka on his bike, the number plates of their car(Zen) changes in between, and at the end of the chase the car itself gets changed(Alto) !!!
Overall, the film is a must-see for everybody. The comic timing of the actors and the non-vulgar comedy makes the film worth watching. The scene ripped off from Matrix Reloaded, where Salman fights six Akshay Kumars is also good to see. Moreover, inclusion of ''Kaanta Laga'', Kapil Dev, Sidhu, and other cricketers have also helped the film. The songs are groovy and fitted well into the film.
