Ok, this is a COOL film. This is a youth film. This is a modern and a FACEBOOK film. This is a confusion film as well.
Malvika (Tara D'souza) & Preity (Saba Azad) are room mates, like Vishal (Saqib Saleem) & Rahul (Nishant Dahiya). Rahul is a pop singer where Malvika is an aspirant fashion designer. Preity, a photographer with vision and Vishal a writer with brain is always on a fight. In a concert where Rahul sings for a large audience, Malvika just go crazy on him and go onstage to say she is his fan. Preity gets attracted to Rahul and when Malvika is almost to reject a fake friendship request in facebook (which was sent by Vishal for he is now crazy in love with Malavika)....oops...are you confused? Never mind. The two room mates fake the facebook ids and the pop singer and fashion designer meets and somewhat like each other. Problem begins for the fakers and the story of Mujhse fraaandship Karoge begins.
This is for the new generation, the facebook generation. Then, the message is little uncool for the newgen as it says talk our heart face to face not facebook to facebook. How mean! As such there is no big story to call it as a story but the 1 hr 40 minutes or so film is giving you a feel of as in a college. From the beginning till the end the story revolve around the college campus, hotel and parties. Screenplay is very good in the first half where the second half got little unsettled. In this second segment the well defined characters getting shaky in confidence which keeps viewers under confusion. At one point we may think even to ask 'who loves whom'...and, we come to a stage, yes, somebody loves somebody but still isn't cool? Despite such confusions the youth energy moves the film forward and we somewhat likes the movie.
Dialogue writer of the movie need special mention as they are intelligent and witty. Make up artist of Saba gets some rest at work which shows.
Saqib Saleem is quite energetic and impressive. He is a promise. Saba Azad is brilliant in look and performance. Nishant Dahiya is just ok. He looks like....(whom? Yuvraj Singh or somebody else?) Tara D'souza got only a small role like Nishant but she did her role quite well. Then, there is some fine performance by the sub cast as well.
Cinematography is good. Editing is ok. Songs are impressive and choreography is creative.
SALT N PEPPER is the surprise hit movie of Malayalam this year. Oh, why I am talking about Salt and Pepper in this review, is it a remake of it? No....for Salt N Pepper is a class apart and a well made film. Then, Salt N Pepper and Mujhse fraaandship karoge has a similar source of 'ins-piration'. If you are tempted to watch Salt N Pepper, don't worry, it is told that Priyadarsan has bought the remake right of Salt N Pepper to Hindi. So, we may have to wait...
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge is a good to very good to watch youth movie for the fun and youthfulness. The film is not flawless but overall entertaining. You may opt to watch it, either with a friend or a lover.
My rating: 3.5 stars.
PS: Wonder how much the Samsung paid to get this much coverage in the film....
