We have been using MTNL services of telephone, broadband(triband) & now IPTV for quite a while now. And IPTV is "the worst" experience till date for us. From the day it has been installed in 2007, not a single month has gone without any complaints. The usual faults that we come across for it are:
The service takes so long to boot/start after switching on the TV.
We are not able to view the channels of our choice. Eg. Ten Sports, HBO etc are always "skipped" and so many of unwanted channels are transmitted.
The video on demand buttons never work, cant view or record anything as mentioned in the services brochures.
It always fail to start, has a blank screen for 2-3 days together, regularly after 15-20 days, in spite of good Internet connectivity. When we make a call to IOL technical team they always has some excuse and do not send a technician.
The clarity as not as good as it use to be in the earlier days, the picture & sound quality breaks in channels such as AXN and BBC.
The people from IOL Broadband dont just respond propely & when they do respond its always that they are never at any fault. They will never send an engineer or technician to your place however the problem might be. I think its because the the service being outsourced to the IOL MTNL is running into trouble. This sort of attitude is not going to take MTNL and IPTV anywhere and they will lose their customer base, all their hype of quality and consumer complaint redressal are mere gimmicks and have no weight.
